Garnock Rugby Club

Garnock Rugby Club provides year-round rugby to children and adults.   Our application is two-fold.  We’d like to continue to support our players development regardless of the weather and seek funding towards the costs of hiring local gym and Astro-turf facilities thus ensuring they can enjoy rugby regardless of the weather and ground  conditions.  We’d also like to be able to provide healthy, low-cost snacks and foods to our junior players and opponents.  During these economically challenging times, Garnock prides itself in providing low-cost physical activity.  Providing food options after games will also ensure equal access to free food for all.

The sewing machines we have been using are old and well used.  Unfortunately, we have some machines in need of repair which would cost too much.  Our group is well attended by users and non-users alike.  The funds we are requesting are to purchase new sewing machines and equipment for the group.  This will allow us to continue to provide sewing advice and training for the community.  Not only this we provide opportunities for people to come together to socialise, participate in group and individual activities and also promote good mental wellness.

As our academy numbers grow substantially post COVID we are needing to replace our boards more often, these boards are very expensive and we go through a large amount throughout the year. We strongly believe that no child should go with out so we would like to purchase some darts that the youths can borrow whilst at the academy as well as more stems, flights, rings etc. We would also like to purchase some academy darts shirts for those that can't afford them so no child feels 'left out'.

We wish to improve our community’s overall health and wellbeing. Providing practical support as individuals not only continue to try and recover from the Coronavirus pandemic but also now strive to navigate their way through new challenges arising from the current cost of living crisis.

Through facilitating monthly “Community Sunday Afternoon Get Togethers” we wish to provide free access to help tackle both food and fuel poverty, whilst at the same time offering opportunities for inclusive activities. These inclusive activities will help to address some of the social isolation issues that many vulnerable members of our community are currently experiencing.
