Garnock Rugby Club
Investment project code: 28
Summary
Description
Garnock Rugby Club provides year-round rugby to children and adults. Our application is two-fold. We’d like to continue to support our players development regardless of the weather and seek funding towards the costs of hiring local gym and Astro-turf facilities thus ensuring they can enjoy rugby regardless of the weather and ground conditions. We’d also like to be able to provide healthy, low-cost snacks and foods to our junior players and opponents. During these economically challenging times, Garnock prides itself in providing low-cost physical activity. Providing food options after games will also ensure equal access to free food for all.
Funds requested: £1000
Hire of facilities £500 Provision of healthy foods and snacks £500 £1000 total requested
Location: Lochshore, Beith
Proposed on behalf of: Should our application be successful we will utilise part of the finding to meet some of the costs associated with hiring indoor ad outdoor training facilities to ensure our players can continue to train regardless of the weather or underfoot conditions at our home pitches and training area at Lochshore. Our players pay an annual membership fee as well as monthly subs. These are very competitive to ensure costs are not restrictive in people being involved in the sport. For example, in our junior section players pay an annual membership of £15 plus monthly subs of £5 or a one off payment of £50. On joining the club players are given team shorts, socks and kit bags. Playing jerseys are provided for games. Thus, we ensure that the club is as inclusive as possible with everyone having access to the same kit. As a result the club requires to source different funding streams in order to pay for such training facilities as the annual membership and subscription costs cover only a small part of the running costs of the club. We would like to be able to provide healthy food and snacks to our junior section players and opponents after games. This would allow them to share some sociable time after the competition of their match. It would also ensure that all young people had access to food on a day when they would not be at school with access to free or low cost food options. All players would have equal access to this meaning there is no stigma attached. In these economically challenge times they club are very aware of the need to provide low cost activities to al; ages thus promoting food physical and mental health and well-being. Within an area of high socioeconomic deprivation both of these initiatives are very important. Should we be successful in our application the funds can be used over the remainder of season 2022/3 and into season 2034/4.
