Welcome to Participatory Budgeting 2025!

A total of £204,159 is available to local organisations, split between the following funding pots:

  • £124,351 to support Locality project applications up to £1000.
  • £30,000 to support Community Wealth Building applications up to £2000.
  • £48,808 to support  Youth project applications up to £1000.

You may submit an application to the Community Wealth Building Fund in addition to either Locality or Youth PB this year, but it must be for a different project.

Applications will open on Monday 25th August and close on Monday 15th September. In the meantime, you should ensure that you have read and understood the criteria for the fund(s) you would like to apply for, along with the application guidance.

If you have any questions, we'd love to see you at a launch event where we'll be supporting you to navigate the website, create an account, troubleshoot applications and generally answer any of your queries.

How to vote online: Locality and Community Wealth Building PB

  • Select the locality that you live or work in below. You will only be able to vote in one area, so make sure you click on the right one!
  • Each locality has a funding pot allocated based on population. Your vote will determine how this funding is distributed between the projects in your area.
  • Review all of the projects in your area to decide which three you would most like to see funded.
  • To cast your vote, select your favourite three projects from the list in your locality and click 'Submit Ballot'.
  • Once you have voted in Locality PB, the site will encourage you to also vote for your favourite projects in Community Wealth Building PB, so make sure you support those too.

You must be logged in to be able to vote, and guidance is availble on logging in here

Voting offline (paper ballots)

If you are unable to vote online for any reason, your local library has paper ballot sheets available for you to use. You will be asked for your name and the first 5 digits of your postcode (e.g. KA11 5) as a form of ID, and then be able to cast your vote in branch. Please note that ballot sheets must not leave the library

If you are part of a community group who would like staff support to be able to vote, you can either contact your Locality Team rep to discuss this in advance or email participtorybudgeting@north-ayrshire.gov.uk to see if we can provide some additional support.

Find out more about participatory budgeting

Participatory Budgeting (PB) is a democratic process that gives local people the power to decide how public sector money is spent. This can be by deciding on how grants are distributed; having a say in how services work in an area; and ultimately influencing decisions at a local authority level by voting on projects that communities would like to see happen in their local area. You can find out more about PB in Scotland here: https://pbscotland.scot/
