Apples from the Ardeer Quarry orchard

Expansion of orchards at The Plantation, Ardrossan and Ardeer Quarry, Stevenston

2025-09-13  •  No comments  •  FRIENDS  •  Three Towns

The project involves planting 15 new fruit trees at the community orchard we've been creating over the past few years at Holm Plantation in Ardrossan, and 26 new fruit trees in the two community orchards we've been creating at Ardeer Quarry in Stevenston. The ground is compacted at one of the Ardeer Quarry orchard sites and so it very challenging for volunteers to dig into to plant trees. So we plan to hire a mini digger and driver to dig large holes there to bypass the need for volunteers to dig there and to provide the trees with the best chance of establishing. All of these orchards will provide the local community with free fresh fruit during late summer and autumn.

Fruit trees - c.£1327

Mini digger and driver to dig holes - c.£708

We aim to offer a social and wellbeing activity to encourage people seeking improvements to their mobility and to provide social interaction and reduce isolation over the afternoon/twilight times of the winter.  These activities would help improve their mental health, offer improved focus and mindfulness and give them better balance and movement

These low impact activities would encourge further social activities due to improved balance, posture and co-ordination, thus enabling them to focus on their chosen activities

The programme would cost £1000 for the tutor time over the 10 week period, use of the premises Doon the Beach will be gifted by Raise Your Voice Ardeer

St Matthew's Parent Council Community School Uniform Project

2025-09-22  •  No comments  •  Livingstone Players  •  Three Towns

The parent council is aware of how the cost of living situation is affecting more than just the families who are eligible for a clothing grant. Also children and young people grow during the school year and there is wear and tear. We want to help with the financial burden of school.

There is a community wardrobe that we have set up that has preloved clothes and donations but as 1350 pupils and located in a deprived area the stock we have is not enough so it is seen as a priority for the parent council to action.

We would spend the money on basic uniform items and a variety of sizes and from different value shops so we do not have a brand as identifiable community wardrobe brand and also in a variety of sizes.

Male shirts (long and short sleeved) £250

Female shirts (long and short sleeved) £250

Male trousers £250

Female skirts £200

Female trousers £50

We are not spending on jumpers or cardigans and coats as budget limited and we have a second hand stock. If future funds come we may extend but trying to maximise wardrobe and many pupils require adult sizes which are more expensive.

Wellbeing activities at The Barony St John Centre

2025-09-13  •  3 comments  •  info@scotcps.org.uk  •  Three Towns

The therapeutic art classes will be offered free of charge to our local community and participants will be encouraged to explore and express their emotions when producing their art works. Whether joyful, hidden, or difficult, participants are encouraged to project their feelings onto the canvas, offering a creative outlet while supporting mental wellbeing.

We would like to offer these classes on a weekly basis for 3 x 8 week blocks for up to 8 participants at a time.

The breathing and meditation classes will be coupled with cold water therapy sessions in the sea, at local waterfalls and in our ice tank.

Cold water therapy has been scientifically proven to increase dopamine levels (the feel good hormone), improve cardiovascular health, and increase the immune system, as well as many other health benefits.

We would like to bring in a qualified yoga, cold-water therapy and mindfulness meditation instructor to offer 5 x 2hr sessions for up to 10 people per session, plus a half day session of yoga, mediation and breathing practices for up to 20 people.

Art materials £300

Meditation/Cold water therapy/yoga Instructor fees £800

Ice £100

Yoga mats x 10 - £100

Water / hot drinks x 70 people - £200

£1,500

Our charity will contribute £500 towards these costs and so are looking for only £1,000 funding from the Locaility PB. Thank you.

We would like to apply for a funding amount of £1000. If successful in our application, this would enable us to provide a summer bus outing for the residents, with the remainder being used towards funding our annual lunch and party, which is attended by approximately 30 residents. These events have a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of residents and provide an opportunity to take part in activities that might not be available to people due to mobility or cost of living ussues.

The cost of the bus would be £480 and the remaining £520 would be used towards the cost of lunch and live entertainment for our party.

  • Bus Hire - £480
  • Lunch x 30 - £450
  • Entertainment fee - £70

Connections Event for ASN Parents

Connection for Families

2025-09-11  •  No comments  •  Connections for Families CIC  •  Three Towns

We are launching Connections for Families CIC to better support whole families raising children and young people with Additional Support Needs (ASN). Before we begin, we want to listen. This pilot project will run a welcoming community event where parents, carers, siblings, and wider networks can come together, hear our plans, and have their say.

This event will create a safe and inclusive space for families to share what matters most to them. We will introduce our new whole-family approach, which focuses on strengthening resilience, reducing isolation, and improving wellbeing. Families will help shape what services and activities should look like—whether that’s peer support, practical workshops, advocacy, or family activities.

The pilot will also build community spirit by connecting families who often feel isolated, offering an opportunity to meet others with similar experiences. With refreshments, child-friendly spaces, and trained facilitators and childcare support, the sessions will be accessible and supportive.

By piloting CCF, we will gather real feedback, test what works, and ensure the future of Connections for Families CIC is led by families themselves. This grant will allow us to make sure our new service is truly community-designed.

Saltcoats High Flats

High Flats Afternoon Club

2025-09-08  •  No comments  •  High Flats Afternoon Club  •  Three Towns

We would like to apply for funding to take the residents of Saltcoats High Flats on trips and outings throughout the year. As an older community of people with a range of mobility needs, many of us live by ourselves. We can go days without talking to people. The High Flats Afternoon Club brings us together with the common theme of living in the same buidling.

We would like to be able to book some trips and days out but due to many different mobility needs, such as walking frames, sticks etc, we need accessible transport. Transport is very expensive and if we were to get £1000, we could use a varierty of taxis, minibus or small bus hires to take us on some days out. This will also allow us to organise mobility scooters and wheelchairs on location when out and about too.

£500 for transport costs

£500 for entrance fees, food and drink etc.

We were successful last year and one of the residents expressed her appreciation and said " this is the first time I have been out in years on my own without having to rely on my family". This made it all worthwhile. We managed a trip to Belfast to the Titanic Museum and this was the first time some of our members had left Scotland or been on a boat. Despite our ages, there are still lots of "firsts" to experience.

Last year were able to achieve all our trips on £800 but with rising costs, £1000 this will allow us to keep it free for all residents, many of whom live on a limited pension
