In addition to the current cookery classes we provide, we would like to add a monthly class teaching people how to budget, and prepare meals that are cooked in a slow-cooker. Those involved would be provided with a slow-cooker and all ingredients. Each class will include the preparation of meals that can be frozen and cooked at home. The featured recipes will be served during the class for all involved to taste. All classes will offer both hands-on participation, and also provide a warm space for those who prefer to watch and learn and taste the dishes featured.

We would like to work with the local food hubs to either remove the financial barrier for 250 Kilwinning residents to access the service or to supply food stocks to the value of £1000 equally between both hubs.

Amount Requested: £1000

We will supply either £500 in value of food items to both food hubs, or we will supply each hub with £500 to mitigate the cost every service user has to access to service.  We would prefer the later option, however we are open to what ever the needs of each service has.

Working in 2022 with members of the congregation together with clients of Crossreach 's Umbrella Project and pupils from Glebe Primary School, we have created the framework of a community garden in what was an unused and overgrown space within our grounds at the rear of the church hall.

However, we now need to build on what was achieved last year and great raised plant beds to to allow the less able bodied to participate and create seating areas to allow for social interaction.

We wish to encourage people to get together again after covid by holding two major concerts. The first would feature Kilwinning Orchestral Flutes and the second Irvine and Dreghorn Brass Band. We will invite school choirs to take part in both concerts. We will work in conjunction with Barrmill Jolly Beggars to deliver these two concerts. We believe there is still a major problem with many older folk being reluctant to get out and mix together and these two concerts aim to encourage socialising.

The sewing machines we have been using are old and well used.  Unfortunately, we have some machines in need of repair which would cost too much.  Our group is well attended by users and non-users alike.  The funds we are requesting are to purchase new sewing machines and equipment for the group.  This will allow us to continue to provide sewing advice and training for the community.  Not only this we provide opportunities for people to come together to socialise, participate in group and individual activities and also promote good mental wellness.

Funds requested: £1000

2 x Janomes sewing machines - £598.00 1 overlocker - £329.00 2 x 6ft folding tables - £98.98 2x4ft folding tables - £69.98 Total - £1,095.96
