Proposed on behalf of: Hello I would like to introduce myself and tell you a bit about Haus of Seisay, my new hairdressing academy for care experienced young people. My name is Thomas Seisay and I have worked very closely with the social work sector since 2014 when my husband and I began our adoption journey. This journey entailed extensive training and as such we gained an in depth knowledge of the care system. We are now two very proud fathers of two adopted children. After our experiences with this process, it was abundantly clear that more positive outcomes are desperately needed for care experienced young people. We passionately want to play a part in improving their opportunities so we sat down and discussed how best we could do this. My husband and I have been hairdressers for over 17 years, and we have had our own salon for 13 years. We have undertaken various qualifications during this time including teaching and assessing and an internal verification qualification. Drawing from our experience, we decided to launch Haus of Seisay. A brand-new unique hairdressing academy, designed especially for care experienced young people. The academy will give young people the tools to follow a successful career in hairdressing and allow them invaluable experience in employment. Our mission is to support and allow our young people to thrive and succeed in the hairdressing industry. We will work closely with our young people running a 4 day a week course. The course will not only teach the art of hairdressing, but it will also teach vital life and people skills, encouraging a feeling of self-worth and confidence. Our young people will not only graduate from this course with a full hairdressing qualification, but they will also leave armed with the vital other skills needed in hairdressing such as customer service and business admin. We will prepare them for life after the academy by teaching CV and interview techniques. At the start of the course our young people will receive a full hairdressing kit which will be theirs to keep and a minimum of 3 weeks work experience at our sister company Tony Robertson Hair Spa. We understand the barriers our young people face being in the care system however we see it as our responsibility to break down barriers and open up opportunities for these young people. Haus of Seisay is a registered charity SC 052074 and we are a recognised Young Person’s Guarantee Employer. We hope to launch 2023 and we would really like your support. I look forward to hearing from you soon and please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like further information. Kindest Regards Thomas Seisay
