Dreghorn Primary Parent Council Funding Inclusive Whole School Trip

The project is to fund a whole school trip for the all the pupils who attend Dreghorn Primary School, this includes the EYC, ESR pupils and pupils in Primaries 1-7. We want to provide an fun local outdoor trip for Summer Term 2024  which will consolidate and enhance the learning from within the school environment and make memories that will last a lifetime.

In the spirit of collaboration and in support for the Community Wealth Building approach we are in discussions with local Ayrshire companies to arrange a suitable venue that can accommodate the whole school group paying particular attention to the additional requirements for our pupils within our ESR.

The cost of the whole school trip is split into 2 parts 

1) Transportation of pupils - buses. Approx cost £500. We want to endorse North Ayrshire Community Wealth Building approach and support local transport businesses within North Ayrshire.

2) Venue cost - covering the cost of the pupils, carers and as the risk assessment  states the  required teacher/helper  to child ratio cost.  Approx cost £500.

Paddle boards

The unit currently has single person paddle boards but these are unsuitable for younger persons who would not be able to operate them. The unit seeks funding to purchase large paddle boards which hold 6 to 8 young persons. This would allow more young persons to try paddle boarding.

We do not need to buy any safety equipment as we are well stocked with them. The equipment is stored in a locked garage at the scout hall.

Educational STEM / ECO Trips

A variety of trips throughout the year - Science Centre / Whitelees Windfarm / Dumfries House / Museum of Rural Life - Farm Trip / Vikingar / Educational Science shows to visit the school - Sense.

Dependent on which stage goes there are approximately 60 kids and 1/2 buses needed for each trip.  Just now we are over £250 for a bus and per head for most of these trips it is 4/5 pounds so it is approximately £500 a trip per school year stage.  So any contribution for buses and activities would be amazing.

Active Girls Committee

We would like to create a logo desgin and purchase North Ayrshire Active Girls Committee Banners for promtion when attending local events. (Logo and banners £300) 

We would like to buy t-shirts supported by our Active Schools staff, so that we can be identifiable when taking future workshops or extra cirriculm clubs in the local area. (T-shirts - £500)

We would also like to purchase resources for our monthly teams meeting to help us keep minutes, plan events and create information help for schools. (Pens, Flipchart paper, Postit notes, General stationary - £200)

Our programme will help young people confidence, commuincation skills, leadership skills, team work, problem solving and its really fun to be part of.

Young Ambassadors Programme

We would like to hold a conference at the Portal in Irvine to provide training for over 200 Young Ambassadors from S1-6 supported by Active Schools Staff which enables them to provide sporting opportunities within their school extra curricular programmes and within their localties, working with local sport clubs and partners. (Hire of the portal - £400)

We would like to purchase t-shirts and badges supported by Active Schools staff, so that our 200 plus young people have a sense on belonging and can be identifed at extra curricular clubs and events and also within our local commuinities (Tshirts - £400, Badges - £200). 

Our programme will help young people confidence, commuincation skills, leadership skills, team work, problem solving and its really fun to be part of.

St. Palladius Parent Council

The funds would allow the school to pay for the sports coaches expenses to run 2 sessions per week for the next three school terms. These sessions would begin in October and run from 3pm – 4pm. 

We wish to continue with the success of the football afterschool club for girls and boys from Primary 5-7, this club would run for the rest of the academic year.  The funds would allow us to pay for transport to take the football team to upcoming tournaments which are organised by North Ayrshire Council Active Schools. We would add to our exsiting sports kit to allow the children to be identified and part of the team. 

We would use some of the fund to pay a netball coach to establish a netball after school club.  Following consultation with the pupils from St. Palladius’ Primary this was a sport that the children showed a high level of interest in.  Netball tournaments are organised by north Ayrshire council and the funds would enable us to pay for buses in order for the children to attend.  

Following the success of the Dance Club last session, the children are very keen to continue this.  The children took part in the Day of Dance last year and we woud love to provide this opportunity again. 

The school have Young Sports Leaders who have responsibility for promoting physical activity in the playground.  The children undertook training in playground games and have requested playground equipment in order to fully engage all the children in the school.  The fund would be used to purchase this equipment. The children will work closely with North Ayrshire’s Active Schools Coordinator to successfully deliver their lunchtime club, which will run each day for the rest of the academic year.

Physical and mental health and wellbeing is always at the heart of St. Palladius’ agenda.  Afterschool sports clubs are an excellent way to engage children in physical activity and improve their health and mental well-being.  Exposing children to sports and physical activity in an afterschool environment encourages them to explore the sport in the community and strengthens the pathways into the sport.  It is hoped that that the afterschool club will encourage more children to participate in sport and thus increase their physical fitness.  Due to the cost of living crisis, after school clubs are the only opportunity that some children have to participate in sports. 

Through this fund we wish to improve aspects of fitness, and develop personal and interpersonal skills and attributes.  We want to enable learners to develop the concepts and skills necessary for participation in a wide range of physical activity, sport and outdoor learning and enhance their physical wellbeing in preparation for leading a fulfilling, active and healthy lifestyle.

The school’s Young Sports Leaders (Primary 6 and 7 pupils) are involved in this application through providing their opinion on the after school clubs they wish to have established. The have selected the equipment needed for their lunchtime ‘Playground Games’ club.

Give Rugby a Try

Garnock Rugby Club Junior Section

We are the Junior Section of Garnock Rugby Club.  We strive to keep rugby as affordable as possible to young people while providing opportunities to promote health and wellbeing through physical activity.  We would like to purchase rugby balls and make a contribution towards the costs the club incurs to hire indoor and astro turf facilities during the winter months.  This allows young people to continue to participate in rugby activities during the winter months thus supporting their health and weelbeing (physical and mental).  By seeking funding we are able to keep our membership and siubscriptions fees as low as possible to ensure costs are not restrictive in people being involved in the sport.

Young Photographer of the Year 2023

Skelmorlie Camera Club has successfully organised an annual photography competition for young people over the past 5 years. The club has enjoyed a special link with the photography department in Largs Academy. However.the competition is open to all young people of school age (primary/secondary) attending any school in the North Coast area. The principle aim of this venture is to improve the well being of young people by encouraging them to go outdoors with their camera or mobile phones, use their imagination and capture their own personal vision of "Autumn".

There will be a presentation event on December 12th in Skelmorlie Community Centre. Each submitted image will be critiqued and given constructive feedback.

The authors of the top 3 images will receive a canvas copy of their image ( 2 A4 @£40 each and 1 A3@ £60 )  and the overall winner will receive a £50 voucher.

Note 1: On the evening of the 12th December the winners will each receive a certificate. If our application is successful we will award each winner the aforementioned prizes at some point within the 12 months of the grant award.

2 training sessions of 4 hours for 12 young photographers will be arranged with 2 professional trainers (organised by Peter Stevenson a professional photographer and ex Jessops trainer) at £360 per session. The total training costs will be £720

Note 2: If our application is successful we will organise the training for the young people at some point within the 12 months of the grant award.

Ardeer Thistle 2015's

Most of the boys have already been supplied with a new kit, but being able to expand the team further, giving more children the opportunity to join a community team, we would need to supply kit to an extra 5 kids at a cost of £105 per person, totalling £525. This means all of the boys will match at tournaments and in playing within the leagues. Across the winter we would also like to be able to book all weather pitches or indoor facilities to allow training to continue without extra costs to our families. This will cost £120 per month, November to February, at a cost of £480. In total, we would request £1000 to cover all costs.
