Multi Sports Club
2024-09-03 • No comments • • Arran
Over 70 young people from across all seven primaries on the island come together to participate on a Monday afternoon for P1-3s and a Wednesday afternoon for P4-7s at a multi-sports club, where pupils participate in a variety of sports. It’s important for youngsters to engage with peers of a similar age, which doesn't always happen . This is a chance for youngsters to build relationships from different villages, which also prepares the young people for transition into secondary school.
There are a number of costs to make this possible –
Transport costs (taxi for pupils from further afield) - £500
Equipment (balls, bibs, cones, general sporting equipment) - £500
Sports Council Go for Gold
2024-09-20 • No comments • • Three Towns
The Sports Council will consult with pupils to see what activities they are interested in and then work with our Active Schools Coordinator to get those clubs set up. The senior pupil leaders at Auchenharvie will come and coach us. To attract more pupils to the clubs we will sign up to attend events on the Active Schools Calendar. Currently we have no budget for transport to events so if we were successful with our application we would use the money for transport to events and for equipment to support our clubs and teams. This would made our school much more active at lunch times and after schools and would make our application for Gold school sport award much stronger.
Costs:
Equipment for after school clubs £500
Travel to events £500

Empowering Girls Through Rugby
2024-09-13 • No comments • • Irvine
This initiative promotes gender equality by encouraging participation and boosting confidence. The U14s Girls Team, which currently has 7 regular players, which has doubled since August 2023 and they are currently using the Irvine Ladies’ old kit designed for men, not tailored for female players. By providing gender-specific rugby kits, we aim to ensure the girls feel comfortable and better prepared, enhancing their performance and overall experience on the field. Through our attached development plan, we aim to increase the number of girls playing over the next few years. Introducing a dedicated kit will boost visibility, encourage participation, and reinforce our commitment to gender equality in sports, fostering a more inclusive and supportive environment that empowers female players to thrive.
The proposed costs are for 12 of each:
Female fitted shorts £200
Female fitted rugby shirts £800

Largs Colts 2013s

We started up our team with a small group of kids and a few parent volunteers who agreed to become novice football coaches.
Since then our team has expanded in popularity and we now have a small army of 38 boys and girls who train twice a week and play games in the local NASA league at weekends. Our team is ably assisted by a band of volunteer parents who help out in all weathers whether coaching, providing transport to games, setting up equipment, cheering loudly, chasing balls, administering first aid or anything else required!
As with many such local groups, funding is always a significant issue. We have always tried to keep the fees for parents as low as possible and we have been grateful so far to have the support of some kind local business owners who have helped out with the costs of match-day and training kits as well as equipment such as footballs.
A large part of the income from fees is spent on training and match day facilities as well as replacing balls etc. which doesn’t leave much extra to spend on gear for the kids.
We are hoping to get funding to cover the cost of waterproof winter jackets for all of our players to use at training and games, the west coast of Scotland isn’t known for being the most forgiving places to be running around a football pitch and we’d like to keep them all warm and dry as much as possible.
The ideal jacket we have identified is Pendle Inter Rain Jacket (black/red) which is fleece lined, wind proof, waterproof and heavy duty with a hood to cope with our winter training and games, we would be looking to get 29 kids sizes @ £24.29 plus 10 small adult sizes @ £29.29, total £997.31 which would give us one spare.
Any help you were able to offer with this would be hugely appreciated by all of the kids and our volunteers.

Greenwood Academy Parent Council wishes to support the 11-18 girls football team. The team attends tournaments throughout the year including Scottish Cup, Spar 7's, Ayrshire Cup and looking to enter the Blackpool International next Easter 2025. We currently have approximately 35 kids at training on a weekly basis and rotate the squad to ensure everyone gets the opportunity to play/be involved in the group.
We have a large number of talented players in the school with 6 girls being selected for the 2nd round of the senior girls Ayrshire squad and have 8 on trial with under 15 South West team. The team provide senior pupils with the opportunity to coach younger groups within the school giving them the opportunity to learn about coaching and improving their responsibilities. This is positive as younger players look up to seniors as positive role models. Staff provide water and free transport to ensure we remove any barriers that young people may face. We have agreements with teams in the community to provide cheaper or free training fee's to ensure everyone gets the same opportunity.
