We try to celebrate annual events such as Easter, Christmas and ensure that older people have something to look forward to, feel involved and have somewhere to meet up with others. This helps wellbeing and improves mental health. Christmas can be a very lonely time for older people, especially if they live on their own and we would like to arrange a Christmas dinner with entertainment, where people can come together and enjoy a festive activity.

We would like to work with the local food hubs to either remove the financial barrier for 250 Kilwinning residents to access the service or to supply food stocks to the value of £1000 equally between both hubs.
Amount Requested: £1000
We will supply either £500 in value of food items to both food hubs, or we will supply each hub with £500 to mitigate the cost every service user has to access to service. We would prefer the later option, however we are open to what ever the needs of each service has.

The project will invite active contributions from local community groups and primary schools to understand the history of flax growing in Kilbirnie to produce linen. This will result in an understanding of local industry and how the land was a source of natural cloth which generated wealth through the textile industry. The funding will provide interactive sessions for each of the two primary schools in Kilbirnie, as well as materials to help pupils and the local community grow their own pot flax. The resulting plants will be used in demonstrations in community sessions at Kilbirnie Library.
Funds requested: £400
Interactive sessions £200 for schools and £100 for community session. Materials £100, e.g. pots, compost.
