St.Mary's Parent Council on behalf of, with GTOC (Growing Together Outdoor Club)
Investment project code: 52
Summary
Description
Our project is an extra curricular Organic Gardening Club focusing on growing our own fruit and vegetables in a sustainable way within our primary school grounds. This helps our mental health and well being, has created strong links within the wider community leading to other creative opportunities, helps break down barriers to participation and we are learning so much about wildlife habitats and the importance of our pollinators. We would like to develop our project and group by purchasing materials to filled our raised beds which are lying empty in time for this years growing season.
Amount requested: £1,000
Soil/Compost. The full amount will go towards purchasing the raw materials we need to begin filling our raised beds and for us to begin sowing seeds to start off our growing season.
Location: Largs
Proposed on behalf of: Our project is growing and more pupils and parents/carers would like to become involved as well as participation from the wider community. We hope to start growing as soon as we can and be up and running by end of February. Our group is running on a weekly basis and we have recently had a visit from Largs Organic Gardeners who we are now working with to develop a permanent art installation in their gardens.
