  • I don’t like the idea of reducing hours. Libraries are much more than just borrowing books

    • It would be horrible to see this beautiful building in the centre of our village, mainly closed all the time. It would detract from the attractiveness of the place and be such a wasted strong resource.

      • I fail to see the point of opening early at 9.30am and then opening on alternative Wednesdays, which has never been the norm, while closing on Thursday which you say is one of the busiest days

Less chance to visit the library, borrow books etc and use resources.

          • The alternate Saturday opening would have an effect. I work Monday to Friday with one day off (only now and then is it a Monday or Tuesday)

            • With the Saturday closure, I will find it difficult to access the library, as will my children.

              • Given the unreliability of the IT system this means that many fewer community members will not have access to library- especially those residents who are confident using IT. Also some housebound residents cannot guarantee that carers could attend on the open days.
With Literacy a large education priority , it is wrong to reduce access to libraries- especially on Saturday when children are not in school.

                • I would need to find alternative facilities (e.g. photocopier), which don't exist currently

                  • Make me sad that library will once again prove to an easy target for savings. And I feel sad for all the devoted staff effected.
