Welcome to Community Participatory Budgeting 2026!
A total of £82,185 is available to local organisations, split across North Ayrshire's six locality areas by population:
- Arran: £3,5,33
- Garnock Valley: £13,872
- Irvine: £19,886
- Kilwinning: £12,998
- North Coast and Cumbrae: £15,804
- Three Towns: £16,091
This includes a £15,000 contribution from the UK Government's Pride in Place Impact Fund.
Applications will open on Monday 17th August and close at midnight on Sunday 6th September.
In the meantime, you should ensure that you have read and understood the criteria for the fund(s) you would like to apply for, along with the application guidance.

Appliations will close at midnight on Sunday 6th September. We encourage you to submit your application early so that we can provide any support you might need; reach out to us at participatorybudgeting@north-ayrshire.gov.uk if you have any questions.
Please keep an eye on your emails while applications are open, as we may get in touch with you about your application to ensure it's completed before the deadline.

Thank you to everyone who has submitted an application!
Applications are now being checked by volunteer community reviewers to ensure they meet the relevant criteria. Any applications that don't meet the criteria will not progress to the public vote.
All applicants will be notified via email once the status of their application has been confirmed.

How to vote online
- You must be logged in to be able to vote: find out how to do this here.
- Select the locality that you live or work in below. You will only be able to vote in one area, so make sure you click on the right one!
- Each locality has a funding pot allocated based on population. Your vote will determine how this funding is distributed between the projects in your area.
- Review all of the projects in your area to decide which three you would most like to see funded.
- To cast your vote, select your favourite three projects from the list in your locality and click 'Submit Ballot'.
Voting offline (paper ballots)
- If you are unable to vote online for any reason, your local library has paper ballot sheets available for you to use.
- You will be asked for your name and the first 5 digits of your postcode (e.g. KA11 5) as a form of ID, and then be able to cast your vote in branch.
- Please note that ballot sheets must not leave the library; they should be completed at the time of your visit and returned to the main desk.
Requesting support to vote
If you are part of a community group who would like staff support to be able to vote, you can either contact your Locality Team rep to discuss this in advance or email participtorybudgeting@north-ayrshire.gov.uk to request staff support at your group's meeting.

Participatory Budgeting (PB) is a democratic process that gives local people the power to decide how public sector money is spent. This can be by deciding on how grants are distributed; having a say in how services work in an area; and ultimately influencing decisions at a local authority level by voting on projects that communities would like to see happen in their local area.
