  • I use the West Kilbride Library frequently. I borrow books, meet friends, use computers and copiers and run the local bookgroup. I also attend the poetry group. I cannot drive and have mobility issues so cannot get to other libraries. Restricting library hours would impact my mental health and my social networking. In the winter I go to the library when I cannot heat my home. Keep Saturdays for school children and who work. You were given the land for a library.

      • I have always used the library services wherever I am - since I was 4 yrs old in Glasgow!! I love the service of being in the atmosphere of any library. It helps my anxiety levels and mental health. The staff at W.K. library are so understanding and have helped me so much. Any downsizing will have an impact on me.

        • I work shifts so do not have the same days off or working times each week. I cannot always visit the library at the same days or times. I think it would be better for the library to be open every Saturday instead of alternate Wednesday/Saturdays. This would enable people who work during the week to visit the library at the weekends.

          • Saturday and Late night were only times me and family could get to the library. 5. I suggest alternate Wedns mornings would not be a success. I suggest public participation on how new books are chosen. Just because titles hit the Sunday Times top ten list doesn't mean the average reader is quite so enthusiastic.

            • The alternate Wednesday and Saturday opening days would be difficult to remember. If the library is closed on a Saturday it is bad for the community spirit as a cool place to visit for grandchildren and everyone might be closed. 80years ago there was no library and children were deprived of books. Literal skills will be lost again and we are going back in cultural values to the old days.

              • Thursday and Friday are two of the busiest days for all functions - why would you close on those days? And opening on a Wednesday, alternate weeks, when everyone is used to the library being closed then? Alternate weeks opening on Wednesday and Saturday is too confusing. And what's the point of opening at 9.30am instead of 10am, which everyone is used to? 1.5 hours which could be useful on other days instead. I always use the library on a Thursday or Friday, would never be able to use it on a Wednesday and the early opening wouldn't help at all.

                • It would appear our library would be closed Wed, Thurs, Fri every other week, meaning we would have to travel, if you're abe, and can afford it to another town, on these days, hardly fits the description of another "local" library, with yourselves having already decided "this is happening", the term "Consultation" is a misnomer. It's more a case of take it or leave it!

                  • People need the library to use computers as it's the only way to apply for jobs etc. Not everyone has a computer. Library has lots of books which contain information for college students etc. Lots of groups use the library as it's a way of meeting up to play games, poetry group etc etc

                    • Extended closure from Wednesday to Mondays on alternative weeks. Limited opening hours will obviously lead to fewer transactions. Irregular hours may cause confusion.
