Obviously less convenient but, as a fully retired person probably manageable. I foresee problems with the alternative weeks closings on Wednesday and Saturdays - perhaps a digital reminders ( like the bin emptying rotas!)
I find that the spell from 1.00pm on a Wednesday until Monday at 9.30 is an unacceptable loss of amenity. Similarly from 5.00 on Tuesday until 9.30am on Saturday also unacceptable.
Being now on my own I am able to work round the reduced hours NAC proposes. I have been a member of a library whereever I lived except twice where no library. It's my escape into another world. I don't watch tv etc, boring. As a teenager I used the one in Portsmouth to do homework. I hope the next stage is not to shut it altogether (w.k.). Regarding your proposed change of opening 1. Why are you suggesting opening at 9.30 seems giving us some time for the hell of it rather than the sense of it. 2. I see no sense in alternate openings? Many times altho supposed to be open, that has not happened on Saturday mornings anyway. I've assumes lack of staff. 3. I would like to know if losing the upstairs children's section has made a difference re junior participation. 4. Some years ago I was at a previous consultation re hours. One gent arrived late, Just off train. He pleaded with you not to shut sat and to keep one night late opening. It fell on deaf ears.
I work 50-60% of the weekdays in Glasgow so my ability to get to the library will be curtailed further with it being open less weekdays and less Saturdays.
The digital resource, whilst good, isn’t nearly wide enough to be a decent substitute for the books I can get from going to the actual physical library
In general we will personally be able to work round a structure that results in less days open but that is not the point. A library is a resource to be used by and for the benefit of the community and simply reducing the availability will have a detrimental effect on many others who have limited opportunity to visit due to work and other commitments. If you limit a library resource it will encourage people to seek the service in other ways and therefore reduce the level of usage. Perhaps a more sensible proposal would be to reduce the hours it is available per day but retain more days open.
I don't drive and usually call in to the library when I've walked to WK for other purposes. The proposed closure times will overlap with times I would be in WK so would need to make the journey (all uphill) specifically to get to the library on other days
The library is such a peaceful, warm place, where they do lots of activities for the kids. I wish Instead of less hours it had more hours and more funding to keep doing community events. Could it not be used in evenings to have community ukulele classes etc?

Lots of varied people use the library for community, borrowing books and as a lifeline service. I would ask the council to stop putting library against library and understand that each town and village benefits from having their own dedicated library. Cynical yes but why on earth would you reduce access to such a valued resource for no good reason.
