Reducing Saturday opening hours to once every two weeks will make it more difficult for me to use the library. Saturday is the only day I can use it. I typically reserve for pick up and have limited time around work and caring responsibilities, so reducing the Saturday hours could make it that i wouldn't be able to pick up reserved books within the window
I am at work Monday - Thursday, so the proposal to close the library on Fridays and alternate Saturdays will make it much more difficult for me to get there to borrow and return books.
Unable to access library except for a few days a week, so latter part of the week there is no access to printing wifi and books, so people use this as a warm space, and for company. Every other week there's going to be nothing from Wednesday till Monday! The groups that will need to move to other times will mean the library is busier in its normal working hours, so there is less space to read or use computers quietly.
As previously said, I will find it hard to go to the library with reduced hours especially on the Saturday. Why is there no late night openings, for people who work.

Popular Times Excluded: 1. PC issues: There is little difference in data between Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. People need access for job hunting, school and work projects, etc. These will not always be possible with the library shut for half the week. 2. Visitors: The proposed new hours do not reflect popular visitor times. The library provides many additional social benefits and users and visitors will include members wishing to look up something they need but not necessarily borrowing a book. In conclusion: 1. The more inconvenient you make opening hours the less the library will be used. 2. 5 sessions a week could be better distributed to cover the public’s needs/likes/convenience eg one session per day at different times. 3. This is a false numbers decision and excludes the wider social provision of libraries.
Full time workers excluded: 1. At present the library is often closed on Saturdays because it cannot be staffed. Have your staff indicated that the longer hours this will no longer be the case? 2. The current and proposed opening hours control who can attend the library so the survey may not reflect the views of those already excluded because they work full time. 3. Saturday afternoon used to be our peak library issue time and as on Saturday mornings many children had other activities (eg ballet, music, football) it was the only time parents could encourage children by bringing them to the library. Despite the data it was cut. 4. The continued absence of late (evening) opening continues to exclude this group.
Value of Libraries: Another cost cutting exercise showing the cost of everything and the value of nothing. It is very well known that reading and access to books and other reading materials enhance life chances. Alternate weeks: Too confusing. A non starter as people will not know whether it is a Saturday or Wednesday week, may not have the ready means to find out or may fail to remember to check in advance. It is likely to reduce further library use because of its inconvenience.
We require a local library for books, use of technology, community liaison, expert help and advice, social hub for the community, encouragement of reading at a young age and a plethora of other strategies to combat falling literacy levels in Scotland.
