We are applying for this fund to help young people within the Garnock Valley who attend Youth Groups in relation to food poverty and the cost of living crisis. We hope that by providing young people with filling snacks and meals their health and wellbeing will be better. Most young people are being affected by the cost of living crisis and we hope that by securing funding to provide food we can help young people in our community.

Outdoor Learning/ Reading Space Kilmory Primary
No comments Arran

Kilmory Primary School are looking to replace their well-loved and utterly exhausted wendy house. As the Parent Council we helped fund the first one many years ago, and our parents have maintained it and repaired it for as long as possible, but sadly it is just too tired to continue. This space is used for discovery and free-play time for students during their outdoor learning, as well as their breaks. It is also a space where peer reading, quiet reading and class story times are enjoyed by the students. It provides an alternative learning space and congregating point for the students to re-group during their outdoor learning sessions, where a wee bit of respite from the weather can be had!

Dreghorn Primary Parent Council Funding Inclusive Whole School Trip

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Dreghorn Primary Parent Council(PC) would like to provide a trip for the whole school, this would be the first trip for years. Pupils and Parents have expressed their desire for a whole school trip but have alluded to the challenge posed by the current cost of living crisis. Not having a whole school trip is adversely effecting children of all ages and we want to ensure that finance is not a barrier. The PC are applying for funding to cover the cost for every child. We all have great memories of trips, we would like that for this generation.

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Outdoor learning is so important to make connections between school and the real world – bringing topics alive. The extensive benefits for health and wellbeing are also well documented.

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">One pupil said " I enjoy trips, they are very educational because you are in a new place, learning new things that you would never be able to see in school. Another pupil told us " You get out all day to see things and its fun. I like a trip because you get to be with all your friends from the other classes and it can be good learning.

Eglinton Growers Allotments would like to apply for funds to host two free events for the local community , an Easter Egg Hunt and a Santas Grotto in 2024. This will be an excellent way of bringing the community and the allotments together and show casing what is available on our site whilst providing free famility fun, invaluable in a cost of living crisis. 2023'a Easter egg hunt was an amazing success with the event providing free Easter treats for 100 children (check out our FB page photos of the joyful photos of the children taking part). and a Xmas event due to take place in Dec 20223.

We believe its important to invite local families to our beautiful site, especially in the current economical crisis for them to enjoy free family fun days without the financial worry, enabling those who simply could not afford a family day of fun with their children/granchildren within their local area.
