The library is a community library - really shocked at reducing the hours. Don't agree with the proposals, quite upset by it. It's ridiculous to reduce the hours. Not happy. The library will be closed on a Tuesday and not everyone in the group can make it on different days. The group has been running for 14 years, Tuesday is the day that suits best. Others have appointments on Thurs and Fri. To put it into perspective my grandson was 12 when I started coming, he is now 21. For some group members it is the only time they are out. One member gets a taxi there and back. Will really miss the group. One member has mascular degeneration and looks forward to Tues at the group. Giving up a Tuesday is a big ask. It's a big step for the group. Having the group on a regular day means you can say to other people to come along. My lifeline on a Tues. Did anyone go round the libs to see what was going on. I appreciate that money is tight
As a volunteer in Stevenston Library on Tuesday morning and Thursday afternoon the proposed revised opening days will impact my daughter and me. She is dependent on me to take her to and from the Library (which is within walking distance) and she has other activities she is committed to, at present, apart from on a Monday. Sadly this would probably restrict her to a Thursday afternoon only. If Stevenston is left without a service at the beginning of the week we will lose an invaluable place to access for half of the week. My daughter values the familiarity and consistency of Practice and the two main Librarian staff in her weekly visit. A Monday or Tuesday and Thursday or Friday as opening days would be more suitable for us.
People will probably just not bother if they aren't sure what day library is closed. Libraries are important and should be looked after, enjoyed by everyone. This is just going to result in libraries closing. They should be encouraged not stripped away until they have gone completely
Due to my work shifts I often use the library on a Mon & Tues, the new proposed hours would mean that I would not be able to use the library as often as I would like due to working later in the week. I have attended clubs at the library previously and due to the new hours, I fell that the clubs would be less accessible as even if the groups are allowed to use the space outwith library hours, I have attended due to knowing that library staff will be there to start with as a friendly face and helping me meet people and integrate into new situations. The library is at the centre of Stevenston community and cutting the hours will impact everyone especially people who are struggling and need a safe space.

I am an author of a number of local history books, almost exclusively involving Stevenston. One important aspect of my research is the availability of both the local history facility in Irvine Library and Stev. Library. In the latter location, the assistance extended to me over the years by Melanie and Ann has been invaluable. They are knowledgeable, enthusiastic and exhibit the features and characteristics required of a modern librarian. To limit their availability to the general public would be a retrograde stop. This library is a well used resource for a number of functions. The space and staff are greatly appreciated by myself and many other Stevenston folk, especially the elderly. The consultation has been an embarasment - illogical, patrionising and shallow - with the ultimate aim of providing one 'super library' to provide a service to the entire council area. Get the necessary savings from another source, stop interfering with a service which incorporates the community

Opening/closing hours will be confusing as to where and when each library is open or closed. This could result on less people using the library

They would not as I go to Ardrossan Saltcoats and Stevenston libraries anyway.
