The library being closed every 2nd Saturday will affect our footfall. Discussion around how people would know which Wednesday/Saturday the library was open - calendar/postcard with dates was discussed. Group member suggested What's On Beith Facebook page. The group did have concerns about being upstairs (the group will utilise this space) and not hearing people come in. Usually, 2 volunteers are on together, bringing a 3rd volunteer in would be a big ask as they would be on their own downstairs as well as asking them to volunteer more time. A screamer on the door was suggested. The group also discussed how difficult it was on public transport to get to Kilbirnie
Whilst the proposed changes for the library I use most would not impact me. The changes of some of the hours for smaller branches specifically Beith would impact my grandchildren. The continual errosion of these important services concerns me. we are constantly being reminded how bad screen time and using ipads is for children, yet councils feel it is okay to reduce services which could help counteract this.

Continuity of service between Beith and Dalry in reality would only be possible for car driver and those fit enough to walk due to limited public transport options. Those that do exist take a very long time. Alternate Wed and Sat opening would be confusing and as nothing else in the town is open on a Wed this would potentially discourage library use on that day. Restricted library access would impact those who rely on the computers, photocopying and printing, those wo use it as a safe, warm place to go and people with young babies. Young people need to be introduced to library use at a young age. Hundreds of new houses are being built in Beith bringing many families potentially seeking good library facilities. They need to be encouraged to use all local facilities. Other larger NAyrshire towns will more existing facilities and better transport links seem far less affected by the proposals. Some are having no reductions. Reduced hours, as long as that doesn't result in less usag
The changes proposed will have minimal effect on me as I am retired and have more time than I used to have. A reduced access will be inevitable but not a major change for me but it may be more restricted for others
I work full time and can only access the library on a Saturday morning. I don't get back to Beith in the evening until just after 6pm. The library is no longer open for one late evening therefore, at present, theoretically have 4 Saturdays in the month when I can go to the library, although there are some Saturdays it is not open under the new proposals. I would only have 2 Saturdays a month to use the library. I do not drive and would have to use the limited public transport available if I wanted to go to another library which is not an options. I often order books to be collected at Beith and would not be able to get these from another library
Only 2.5 days open. As I am away most weekends this leaves just Thursday and every other Wednesday half day. Rather have a Monday or a Tuesday option

Reduction of opening times resulting in less flexibility
The proposed reduction in library services is in opposition of a major national campaign to get more people to read.
