Eglinton Growers Allotments would like to apply for funds to host two free events for the local community , an Easter Egg Hunt and a Santas Grotto in 2024. This will be an excellent way of bringing the community and the allotments together and show casing what is available on our site whilst providing free famility fun, invaluable in a cost of living crisis. 2023'a Easter egg hunt was an amazing success with the event providing free Easter treats for 100 children (check out our FB page photos of the joyful photos of the children taking part). and a  Xmas event due to take place in Dec 20223.

We believe its important to invite local families to our beautiful site, especially in the current economical crisis for them to enjoy free family fun days without the financial worry, enabling those who simply could not afford a family day of fun with their children/granchildren within their local area.    

Refreshing equipment to help widen access to Duke of Edinburgh in Largs to get our young people outdoors, enhance wellness and encourage active participation in the community.

Our football team plays a crucial role in promoting health, wellbeing and social inclusion.  It’s a critical age for children to begin experimenting with alcohol and smoking but having a focus with our team helps to support the boys make positive decisions. We have a range of families in our team, some from deprived areas and a family from Ukraine. Being a part of our team has helped reduce social barriers for these boys and ensure they have a sense of belonging whilst also supporting one of the boys learn to speak English.  They are also learning to work positively as part of a team and respect which they take into their daily lives at school and at home with their families.  We promote healthy choices as a team and as a result of this many of the boys have joined the gym and attend regularly to keep improving their fitness levels and socialise with one another.

Our dedicated coaches volunteer a large amount of time to the team for training, matches and all the organising that goes on in the background.

5th Dreghorn Brownies and Guides Group

We as a unit meet every Thursday night in the community centre in Dreghorn. We try to have as much fun as we can while the girls learn life skills and gain badges. Between the Brownies and the Guides we have 48 girls as well as 6 leaders. We would like to take the whole group on a team building day to Craufurdland Castle in Kilmarnock to carry out a team building day. Activities would range from Archery to tree top trials. With this funding it would ensure that all our girls could attend the day out regardless of social circumstances. Being together as a whole group is important to us and this is our chance to do that.

Newly established girls under 14's team at Ardeer Thistle.  Offering opportunities for girls to access football and sport at a grassroots level whilst developing confidence, team building, mental and physical wellbeing.  

We are a free to train and play football club. We are open to all no matter gender, sex and ability. We aim to help children grow into fit young adults with belief, work ethic and respect for themselves, their competitors and their community.

Arran Young Sports Leaders support a number of island wide programmes and events across the year. It’s important for the Young Leaders to be recognisable with team kit, which should be worn at these events.
