Young Carers Champions Board
2025-09-18 • No comments • • Irvine
We would like funding to run training days and research opportunities for the young carers who are part of the Champions Board. These activities will help young carers to build confidence, learn new skills, and take part in projects that highlight the realities of being a young carer. It will also give them the chance to work together, learn from each other, and share their voices with the wider community.
Young carers often have a lot of responsibility at home. This can make it harder for them to take part in the same opportunities as others their age. Our project will give them safe and supportive spaces to learn, to grow, and to connect with others who understand what they are going through. By doing this, we will help them to feel stronger, more confident, and more able to share their views with schools, services, and local decision-makers.
We will run training days where young carers can build their skills in leadership, public speaking, and wellbeing. We will also run research projects so young carers can share their ideas and experiences in ways that influence change. These sessions will be fun, supportive, and focused on what matters most to the young carers themselves. At the end, we will bring everyone together for a celebration event to share what has been learned.
The project is for all young carers in North Ayrshire, especially those who are part of the Champions Board. It will also benefit families, schools, services, and the community, because the young carers will have more confidence to share their ideas and help make support better for others.
-
Travel Costs – £250 To cover buses or minibus hire for young carers to attend activities, training sessions, or days out in North Ayrshire and Glasgow.
-
Activities and Training – £400 This includes entry fees for activities such as museums, learning workshops, or team-building days. It also covers costs for professional trainers to deliver sessions on skills like leadership, public speaking, and wellbeing.
-
Food and Refreshments – £200 Providing meals and snacks during days out and training days so young carers are well looked after and can enjoy the experience fully.
-
Materials and Resources – £100 Stationery, workbooks, or activity packs to support training sessions and research projects.
-
Celebration/Reflection Event – £50 A small event to bring the group together at the end, celebrate achievements, and share what has been learned with the wider community.
Towerlands youth club

The young people of Towerlands youth club would like some new sports equipment to add to our limited collection. New sports equipment would mean we can play new games and try new sports that arent as well known. This would encourage new and returning members to keep coming and share with their peers to grow our group as stailness in activities has taken a hit on our numbers. The next thing they asked for was a trip to bounce station. Towerlands is in the most deprived according to Scottish index of multiple depravation in income, education and unemployment. So a chance for fun days like this would severly boost mental health and encourge new members to join and build friendships. Lastly we would use the rest of the money to get vouchers to cover food and snacks that we would need for movie nights or cooking/baking.
Break down:
Sports equipment £500
Footballs, soft balls and basketballs £40 - Basket ball adjustable hoops £259.99 - Portable goals £19.99 - 4 in 1 games table (pool, football, hockey, table tennis) £147.99 - £30 Rackets and shuttlecocks.
Trip to bounce station
At £15 per person we would like 30 tickets
And lastly £50 for gift vouchers.
Greenwood Academy Duke of Edinburgh

Duke of Edinburgh helps to develop young peoples' confidence and wilderness skills. It is an amazing opportunity which also encourages young people to volunteer in the local community as one of the four sections.
Last year 30 pupils participated in the Duke of Edinburgh Award and this year the number has nearly tripled to 85. The equipment we have has damage due to wear and tear adn also we do not have the quantitty needed to allow all of these young people to partcipate in the award. We are also aware that we live in an area of high deprivation and some young people would be unable to afford to buy the specific equipment needed to participate in the wilderness experience.
We are looking for funding to give the experience to all young people as this would offer equity to all.
Sleeping Bags- £85 x5= £425
Walking Boots £57.50 x 10= £575

Irvine Meadow 2013

Since moving to 11s, game time is longer and the pitch size is bigger meaning that our weekly costs have risen. This last year we are constantly coming up against financial barriers due to the rising costs of hiring pitches, referee costs, coaches training certificates and equipment.
The team have recently raised funding via sponsorship from local businesses and parental contribution to get new strips for the start of the season as the boys had all outgrown their kit. All funding raised paid for the new kits for the boys.
We are seeking funding to purchase new training kits, this will be shorts, tops and socks. Funding is all sought for new equipment of balls, cones and training poles. Having all the boys in the same kit promotes inclusion and uniformity.
We seek this funding to ease the financial pressure on parents/carers who already contribute monthly to the team.
Breakdown of costs;
16 training strips (shorts, top, socks) x £50.00 £800.00
Equipment (balls, cones, training poles) £200.00

Pathway to Music
2025-09-08 • No comments • • Irvine
In conjunction with North Ayrshire Council Music Services, Music@Wellwood would organise a Strings Masterclass in 2026 with Donnie Deacon, a Lecturer of Violin, Viola and Chamber Music at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Donnie Deacon can provide guidance, technical advice and possible progression pathways into music for young people taking part.
Opportunities such as this have proven to strengthen access to music within North Ayrshire with young musicians supporting community groups and continuing to work within the community and schools promoting music as a career path and as an important educational tool which can continue to be a lifetime benefit.
In addition to an afternoon Masterclass in the Wellwood Burns Centre & Music, the young people would be invited to attend an evening performance by Donnie Deacon in Wellwood.
Provision of the afternoon Masterclass would cost £400. Attendance of 10 young people (approx. number) at the evening performance in Wellwood would be £100. Afternoon refreshments for the young people attending the afternoon Masterclass £30. Any costs associated with the use of the Wellwood would be met by Music@Wellwood.
STARLIGHT PRODUCTIONS - YOUTH THEATRE GROUP
2025-09-17 • No comments • • Irvine
Starlight Productions has been a dream of mine for a few years now. We are a very new group but are now ready to begin opening the group up by advertising and meeting weekly in a local space. We have been supported to create a committee and have written our constitution.
I am very passionate about drama and dance and have already created the script for our first production. I already have other young people excited to start but I would like to open this out to others. Our first production will ayouth friendly version of the show the HEATHERS.
We are a very new group and have started to look a fundraising for other shows to help buy materials and props but are looking for help with this fund to help get us started and known in the community.
I really want to give young people like myself a space to come together, have fun and express themselves. I do not want to charge people to come to this group as I know this can be expensive for families and I dont want to stop people from coming. That is why we are applying for funding and will start fundraising events at the start of 2026. To get started we are looking for £1000 to:
1. help with hall costs in a local community centre for our first year. £10 per week for 52 weeks. - £520
2. Printing costs to advertise our group. - £50
3. Art materials to create a back drop & props & costumes. - £430
Thank you for considering my application.
