Summary

Irvine Meadow 2013 are a team of 16 boys aged 11&12. The team have recently transitioned to 11 aside and are competing in the AYFL 2013s Premiership League. The team train twice a week (Tuesday and Thursday) and have games on a Saturday morning. The team promotes physical wellbeing and social inclusion and ensures the boys have a focus which supports them to make positive decisions.

Description

Since moving to 11s, game time is longer and the pitch size is bigger meaning that our weekly costs have risen.  This last year we are constantly coming up against financial barriers due to the rising costs of hiring pitches, referee costs, coaches training certificates and equipment.

The team have recently raised funding via sponsorship from local businesses and parental contribution to get new strips for the start of the season as the boys had all outgrown their kit.  All funding raised paid for the new kits for the boys.

We are seeking funding to purchase new training kits, this will be shorts, tops and socks.  Funding is all sought for new equipment of balls, cones and training poles.  Having all the boys in the same kit promotes inclusion and uniformity.

We seek this funding to ease the financial pressure on parents/carers who already contribute monthly to the team.

Breakdown of costs;

16 training strips (shorts, top, socks) x £50.00        £800.00

Equipment (balls, cones, training poles)                    £200.00

How have young people been involved in shaping this project?

Yes, the boys have been communicating at training and have been making suggestions on what their new training kit should look like. Votes will be cast on the top 3 preferences for their new training kit - voting will be held via a poll on their 'Medda' group chat!

    18 people benefitted from the funding. It allowed the boys to be fully kitted out with matching zipper tops, kit bags for all of their equipment and dry robes for the subs. Parents and other teams have commented how professional the boys look. The boys take pride with all of their kit.
