STARLIGHT PRODUCTIONS - YOUTH THEATRE GROUP

2025-09-17  •  No comments  •  Pamela Carson  •  Irvine

Starlight Productions has been a dream of mine for a few years now. We are a very new group but are now ready to begin opening the group up by advertising and meeting weekly in a local space. We have been supported to create a committee and have written our constitution.

I am very passionate about drama and dance and have already created the script for our first production. I already have other young people excited to start but I would like to open this out to others. Our first production will ayouth friendly version of the show the HEATHERS.

We are a very new group and have started to look a fundraising for other shows to help buy materials and props but are looking for help with this fund to help get us started and known in the community.

I really want to give young people like myself a space to come together, have fun and express themselves. I do not want to charge people to come to this group as I know this can be expensive for families and I dont want to stop people from coming. That is why we are applying for funding and will start fundraising events at the start of 2026.  To get started we are looking for £1000 to:

1. help with hall costs in a local community centre for our first year. £10 per week for 52 weeks. - £520

2. Printing costs to advertise our group. - £50

3. Art materials to create a back drop & props & costumes. - £430

Thank you for considering my application.

Pathway to Music

2025-09-08  •  No comments  •  Music@Wellwood  •  Irvine

In conjunction with North Ayrshire Council Music Services, Music@Wellwood would organise a Strings Masterclass in 2026 with Donnie Deacon, a Lecturer of Violin, Viola and Chamber Music at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.  Donnie Deacon can provide guidance, technical advice and possible progression pathways into music for young people taking part.

Opportunities such as this have proven to strengthen access to music within North Ayrshire with young musicians supporting community groups and continuing to work within the community and schools promoting music as a career path and as an important educational tool which can continue to be a lifetime benefit.

In addition to an afternoon Masterclass in the Wellwood Burns Centre & Music, the young people would be invited to attend an evening performance by Donnie Deacon in Wellwood.

Provision of the afternoon Masterclass would cost £400.  Attendance of 10 young people (approx. number) at the evening performance in Wellwood would be £100.  Afternoon refreshments for the young people attending the afternoon Masterclass £30.  Any costs associated with the use of the Wellwood would be met by Music@Wellwood.

Glebie Gardeners

2025-09-11  •  No comments  •  GlebePTAPC  •  Irvine

Glebie Gardeners is a community gardening project based in the grounds of Glebe Primary.  Children, parents/carers and local partners will come together at the after-school gardening club to learn how good grows from seed to plate.  The project will teach children about herbs and vegetables, support them to cook simple dishes such as soups and give them practical life skills.  Any vegetables or herbs grown will be available for families to use to enhance their own meals which will also support them during the cost-of-living crisis.

We are seeking funding to purchase four large wooden planters, compost and a few sets of gardening tools.  These will provide the essential resources to get children planting, nurturing and harvesting their own produce.

The project will benefit all children of Glebe by helping them to understand sustainability, heathy eating and where their food comes from.  It will also strengthen relationships across generations, as parents and partners share their knowledge and skills while working alongside the children.

We believe this idea deserves to be funded because it combines education, health, and community spirit.  By investing in Glebie Gardeners, you will be helping young people develop communication skills, confidence and an appreciation of nature, all whilst creating lasting bonds within the community.

Duke of Edinburgh helps to develop young peoples' confidence and wilderness skills. It is an amazing opportunity which also encourages young people to volunteer in the local community as one of the four sections.

Last year 30 pupils participated in the Duke of Edinburgh Award and this year the number has nearly tripled to 85. The equipment we have has damage due to wear and tear adn also we do not have the quantitty needed to allow all of these young people to partcipate in the award. We are also aware that we live in an area of high deprivation and some young people would be unable to afford to buy the specific equipment needed to participate in the wilderness experience.

We are looking for funding to give the experience to all young people as this would offer equity to all.

Springside primary parents council

The proposed plan would be to have playground games painted onto the tarmac in the playground such as Hop scotch, darts, target throwing, dance, duck duck goose, number lines and squares and Chess. help with gross motor skills through a radical method supporting all.

This would encourage literacy and numerousy learning through a fun and engaging way which would meet the needs of all children and support attainment.

We would also look to use some of the funds for play and sport equipment for the playground such as balls, parachutes, hula hoops among other games.

This would also support the health and wellbeing of our children when playing games and working together. This would be a radical way of encouraging creativity, imagination, social inclusion (sharing, working together), leadership skills developed through play.

Springside is a very deprived area and we want what is best for our children, this grant would break a financial barrier and would give the children equal opportunities to develop their skills further outwith the classroom.
