Towerlands Youth PB application

Project code: 1136

Estimated Price

£1,000

Project Summary

Towerlands youth club is a safe space free for young people in the local area from P7 till S3. We focus on physical and mental wellbeing with many activities covering a wide range of skill sets from baking to sports. This allows multiple skill sets to shine and improve. We are proud to be apart of the Towerlands community.

Project Description

The young people of Towerlands youth club would like some new sports equipment to add to our limited collection. New sports equipment would mean we can play new games and try new sports that arent as well known. This would encourage new and returning members to keep coming and share with their peers to grow our group as stailness in activities has taken a hit on our numbers. The next thing they asked for was a trip to bounce station. Towerlands is in the most deprived according to Scottish index of multiple depravation in income, education and unemployment. So a chance for fun days like this would severly boost mental health and encourge new members to join and build friendships. Lastly we would use the rest of the money to get vouchers to cover food and snacks that we would need for movie nights or cooking/baking.

Break down:

Sports equipment £500

Footballs, soft balls and basketballs £40 - Basket ball adjustable hoops £259.99 - Portable goals £19.99 - 4 in 1 games table (pool, football, hockey, table tennis) £147.99 - £30 Rackets and shuttlecocks.

Trip to bounce station

At £15 per person we would like 30 tickets

And lastly £50 for gift vouchers.

How have young people been involved in shaping this project?

The answer to this question is private.

Location: Towerlands community centre is a much needed support network for all in the local areas as they are in the most deprived for education, income and employment. Having a safe place for young people keeps them out of trouble and builds their skill sets through informal learning. They build their social abilities at a vital time of change for some of them are moving or already moved into 1st year at secondary.
