Skelmorlie Active Travel

2025-09-10  •  No comments  •  Secret Bunker  •  North Coast and Cumbraes

We are normally open on Sunday afternoons from April to September from approx 1pm until 5pm.

Our Museum site known as Skelmorlie Secret Bunker as a secondary role has a vision of promoting Active Travel within North Ayrshire for the benefit of all our community.

We can provide a toilet and refreshment facility through using our self contained Groundhog Welfare unit which provides a proper toilet facility and small kitchen for the provision of hot and cold drinks.

In addition apart from catering for small groups such as individuals and families we can by prior arrangement cope with organised walking and cycling groups both on Sunday afternoons and outwith those times.

We are applying for £360 to get our toilet facility serviced over that six months, £150 for flyers to advertise within North Ayrshire the Active Travel Waypoint and £130 for kitchen sundries such as water, tea, coffee eco cups and milk to provide a refreshment service all at no cost to the users of our museum site.

Expansion of orchards at The Plantation, Ardrossan and Ardeer Quarry, Stevenston

2025-09-13  •  No comments  •  FRIENDS  •  Three Towns

The project involves planting 15 new fruit trees at the community orchard we've been creating over the past few years at Holm Plantation in Ardrossan, and 26 new fruit trees in the two community orchards we've been creating at Ardeer Quarry in Stevenston. The ground is compacted at one of the Ardeer Quarry orchard sites and so it very challenging for volunteers to dig into to plant trees. So we plan to hire a mini digger and driver to dig large holes there to bypass the need for volunteers to dig there and to provide the trees with the best chance of establishing. All of these orchards will provide the local community with free fresh fruit during late summer and autumn.

Fruit trees - c.£1327

Mini digger and driver to dig holes - c.£708

Autumn Club

Autumn Club

2025-09-22  •  No comments  •  j_c_dick  •  Three Towns

The Autumn Club meets fortnightly in Ardrossan Parish Church from Sept-June and provides those in the 'Autumn Years' of their lives with the opportunity to get together for companionship and entertainment. We provide a speaker or performer at most of our meetings and also arrange a Christmas Lunch, a Tea Party, and an afternoon outing. We regularly get 40+ members attending each meeting and had almost 100 people registered last year.

This application is to cover the cost of coach hire for an outing, which is estimated at £500, and the cost of catering for a Tea Party, which is estimated at £250.

This funding request would allow us to subsidise the costs for up to 50 people at each event.

Irvine Sharks Division 1 2025-26

2025-09-11  •  No comments  •  irvine sharks  •  Irvine

The club has provided a platform for Irvines first competitive basketball team and inspiring the next generation.

We are applying for approximatley 50% of the cost of hall hire (£690 based on 2024-25 costs) for the upcoming season and referees costs (£310 based on 2024-25).

This would really help support our members by decreasing our membership fees during the current financial climate and support them to continue to take part in their sport and continue to increase their physical health and mental well-being and aim to hopefully bring another trophy home to Irvine.

Access for All: Inclusive Improvements at Merksworth Park, Dalry

2025-09-12  •  No comments  •  EFairns  •  Garnock Valley

At present we do not have access to the ground for our disabled and wheelchair user supporters due to uneven ground, lack of ramps and broken steps. We are looking to remove a ticket gate which would give access from the back car park, fix the broken steps and put in a ramp. This would give access to a sheltered area in the stand which would provide an ideal viewing area. This area would need to be highlighted and marked off with tape/paint.

Cost for this would be £1820.

Community Café Enhancement**

We are seeking funding to enhance the visibility and functionality of our Community Café, which plays a vital role in our local area yet remains underutilised. Many local workers and residents are unaware that our café is open to everyone, resulting in missed opportunities for community engagement and funding generation for our local initiatives.

Our  Goals

1. Increase awareness of the café among local residents and passing workers.

2. Boost visitor numbers to generate income for our community projects.

3. Create a welcoming and inclusive environment through improved outdoor seating and signage.

Impact- The café serves as a cornerstone of community wellbeing. It provides affordable meals, a friendly meeting place, and a safe space for all residents. Our café hosts various activities aimed at reducing social isolation, and an increase in visitor numbers will enable us to diversify and expand our event offerings, providing further benefits to the local area.

By adding outdoor seating, we will attract more customers, particularly during the summer months. This will not only accommodate dog walkers and families but also create opportunities for increased income that can be reinvested into improving our services.

Benefits of Increased Footfall

- Sustained and enhanced community events. - Greater income flow to support more activities.

- A stronger sense of community cohesion and engagement.

Cost Breakdown

To realise our vision of a bustling Community Café, we require funding for the following items:

Signage Costs:

- Circle Stamp: £10.37  - Mesh Banners: £58.98  - Outdoor A-Frame Signs: £94.51

- Indoor Banner Without Eyelets: £121.48  Total Signage Costs: £342.41 (Inc VAT)

Outdoor Seating Costs: - 16 Stacking Bistro Seats: £260  - 8 Bistro Tables: £320

- Delivery: £45.00  - Total Outdoor Seating Costs: £624.88

Total Funding Request: £967.41

Investing in improved signage and outdoor seating is a cost-effective strategy to capitalise on the café’s potential. With this funding, we can transform our Community Café into an inviting hub of activity, fostering greater community interaction and enhancing the overall quality of life for residents. We appreciate your consideration and support in helping us realise this vision.
