Summary

The football ground is a focal point of local activity—used not just for matches, but, on occasion, for youth programmes and community gatherings. In deprived areas where access to health and leisure services is already limited, this can be a lifeline for many disabled residents. We aim to create accessible facilities would allow more residents to take part, helping to improve mental wellbeing, reduce loneliness, and create stronger community bonds.

Description

At present we do not have access to the ground for our disabled and wheelchair user supporters due to uneven ground, lack of ramps and broken steps. We are looking to remove a ticket gate which would give access from the back car park, fix the broken steps and put in a ramp. This would give access to a sheltered area in the stand which would provide an ideal viewing area. This area would need to be highlighted and marked off with tape/paint.

Cost for this would be £1820.

Ten Volunteers participated. Any disabled or wheelchair bound person will now be able to attend or game. The funding allowed our club to create wheelchair access and a dedicated covered area to watch the game. Our supporters love the fact they no longer have steps to deal with and our wheelchair users are ecstatic they no longer have to watch through a fence.
