P7 Residential Trip to Ardentinny

2024-09-02  •  No comments  •  Marie Prince  •  North Coast

Themes: health & well-being and cost of living

The 5 day, residential trip to Ardentinny for 70 children costs £22260, £318 per child.

The Parent Counsil tried to rasie funds to reduce this cost per child.

In addition to the Youth PB Fund, we usually manage to rasie £1500 via our school fayre and school raffle.

This reduces the cost by approximatley £35 per child.

Irvine Meadow 2009

As a club we are always trying to improve the opportunities available to the children however we are constantly coming up against financial barriers due to the rising costs of hiring pitches, referee fees, coaches education and general equipment. We are currently raising money to take the team to a football tournament in Barcelona during the easter holidays 2025 which is a 5 night stay including 4 days of football for the children. This is a great opportunity for the team to socialise and have a weekend with their family and friends whilst playing competitive football. Some of the boys in the team have never been abroad so this is a huge opportunity for them and being accepted for this grant would help us reach our target ensuring that no boy misses out due to the cost for their family. If successful with this grant we would use the money to cover the cost of the tournament entry which is £140 and the cost of the bus to transfer the boys from the hotel to the tournament each day which is £675

Multi Sports Club

Over 70 young people from across all seven primaries on the island come together to participate on a Monday afternoon for P1-3s and a Wednesday afternoon for P4-7s at a multi-sports club, where pupils participate in a variety of sports. It’s important for youngsters to engage with peers of a similar age, which doesn't always happen . This is a chance for youngsters to build relationships from different villages, which also prepares the young people for transition into secondary school.

There are a number of costs to make this possible –

Transport costs (taxi for pupils from further afield) - £500

Equipment (balls, bibs, cones, general sporting equipment) - £500

Sports Council Go for Gold

The Sports Council will consult with pupils to see what activities they are interested in and then work with our Active Schools Coordinator to get those clubs set up. The senior pupil leaders at Auchenharvie will come and coach us. To attract more pupils to the clubs we will sign up to attend events on the Active Schools Calendar. Currently we have no budget for transport to events so if we were successful with our application we would use the money for transport to events and for equipment to support our clubs and teams. This would made our school much more active at lunch times and after schools and would make our application for Gold school sport award much stronger.

Costs:

Equipment for after school clubs £500

Travel to events £500

Kilwinning Rangers 2014

2024-09-12  •  No comments  •  Kilwinning Rangers 2014  •  Kilwinning

Kilwinning Rangers 2014 are applying for funding of £1000 to help the team reach their target of buying new balls, cones and bibs, training pack for each player and to play in a youth festival in a different area.

A successful application would support the team to reach these goals and help the coaches improve the experience and level of training that is taking place currently. The funding would also support the families by lightening the financial burden and allowing all players to have their own training packs so everyone is wearing the same and feel part of the team.

The £1000 funding would be used to help the team secure the following:

  • New balls/training equipment so there are enough balls for each player when doing drills in training and different equipment to aid in different training exercises and warm up drills - £10 per ball x 35 = £350 - Cones and bibs - £40  total £390
  • Trip to football festival - We would love to give our players the opportunity to experience playing in different football festivals all over the country but due to funding this can be difficult as we have 30 players which make up 3 team playing 7 a side currently.  Estimated cost: 3 teams entered into festival £100 per team per festival = £300 total for one festival.
  • Training packs ( shorts, top, socks, ½ zip, rain jacket) for each player so everyone has the same kit to wear on Mondays and Thursday for training and means that the football kits would only be worn on match days. All players would also be ready for all weather playing. Estimated cost £61 per player x 35 = £2,135

We would be looking for the additional funds to meet our goals to be provided by the parents/guardians, hence how important this fund could be to the team and families during this cost of living crisis to ensure that all players have the same kit and nobody is left behind.

Arran High School Mountain Bike Club

We would like to train another volunteer MTB leader.  As a Scottish Cycling affiliated club there are strict qualifications required in order to volunteer as a leader.  We need another leader in order to meet the needs of our growing membership.  We need to cater for multiple ability groups and continue our popular girls only night.  Arran High School Mounytain Bike Club is an award winning after school club based on the Isle of Arran.  Recently we have opened Dyemill Bike Park, a family friendly cycling.  We have noticed an increae in demand for spaces on our regular and frequent after school rides which are year round, term time.

£260      British Cycling BMBLA Level 2 leader training

£150      British Cycling BMBLA Level 2 leader assessment

£190       2 day outdoor first aid

£25         Sport Scotland CWPS

£475      Expenses.  Two return trips to Aviemore from Arran with three night’s accommodation budget (anticipated more than this)

Our team would love to take part in several festivals across the summer break, allowing the children to experience tournament football and being awarded medals. These cost £90 per team, so with the number we have we can often register 2 teams for 7 aside games. For 3 tournaments this would cost £540.

The fee to hire the all weather floodlit pitches costs £85 per week now, so to keep the weekly costs the same for parents and not having to increase fees, the remaining £460 would go towards pitch hire and spare equipment such as bibs, cones, balls.
