Summary
We are seeking a grant of £1000 to help reduce the cost of attending the 4 day trip to Arran for our P7 pupils. Reducing the cost will make it more affordable for families to send their kids for this invaluable experience.Description
Attending the Arran Outdoor Education Centre is a highlight for P7 children and it offers significant health and wellbeing benefits for them. Through outdoor activities such as hillwalking, orienteering, and water sports, they develop physical fitness, coordination, and a connection with nature. These activities promote mental resilience, problem-solving, and teamwork, while also fostering self-confidence. The outdoor setting encourages relaxation and stress reduction, positively impacting mental health. Additionally, the experience provides opportunities for social interaction, boosting communication skills and emotional wellbeing.
The cost to send children on the 4 day trip is £188.60 per pupil. There are approximately 25 children who are eligible to go, therefore if funding is successful the cost will be reduced to £148.60 - saving £40 per child. As a Parent Council we are always looking for ways to make the children's school experience as enjoyable as it can possibly be, and we hope that by being able to contribute and reduce the overall cost, more children will be able to enjoy this amazing opportunity.
The total will be split across all children in the class, which means any children who are unable to go to Arran can enjoy some activities closer to home that week.
Unfeasibility explanation
As the trip is a school trip and not taking part outside of the school day, the group believe this does not make the criteria
