Our group would use the funds to buy props and costumes for our young people who otherwise would be unable to buy these due to the cost of living crisis.  These would be used in our school show which is due to take place in June 2023.  Many of our young people will be unable to take part in the show if they have to buy their own costumes so this would eliminate this issue

Requested Amount: £1000

Props for show - £200 Costumes and items for young people to take part in show - £800

The project will invite active contributions from local community groups and primary schools to understand the history of flax growing in Kilbirnie to produce linen. This will result in an understanding of local industry and how the land was a source of natural cloth which generated wealth through the textile industry. The funding will provide interactive sessions for each of the two primary schools in Kilbirnie, as well as materials to help pupils and the local community grow their own pot flax. The resulting plants will be used in demonstrations in community sessions at Kilbirnie Library.

Funds requested: £400

Interactive sessions £200 for schools and £100 for community session. Materials £100, e.g. pots, compost.

We wish to improve our community’s overall health and wellbeing. Providing practical support as individuals not only continue to try and recover from the Coronavirus pandemic but also now strive to navigate their way through new challenges arising from the current cost of living crisis.

Through facilitating monthly “Community Sunday Afternoon Get Togethers” we wish to provide free access to help tackle both food and fuel poverty, whilst at the same time offering opportunities for inclusive activities. These inclusive activities will help to address some of the social isolation issues that many vulnerable members of our community are currently experiencing.

Funding requested: £800 to contribute towards the cost of food and drinks provision at the Get Togethers

We would like to expand the community orchard at Holm Plantation in Ardrossan. We planted the first 50 fruit trees in the orchard there recently and would use PB funding to add an additional 27 apple trees. The community orchard will help address the climate challenge by reducing food miles and sequestering carbon, and will make local people healthier by providing them with free fresh fruit.

Requested Amount: £990

Fruit trees - £810 Fruit tree delivery - £70 Tree stakes - £44 Tree guards - £66
