Community Health & Wellbeing
Description
Police Scotland is increasingly providing support to people experiencing mental health distress; both by responding directly to calls for service and by safeguarding people in its care. Meeting this growing societal demand does increasingly test the capacity of the Police Service.
We are improving mental health support by training officers to respond to people in crisis, helping them get the right support quickly, and working with partners to reduce the stigma around mental health. This work depends on strong community engagement and support. Police Scotland and partners must understand local needs to provide the right help at the right time.
