NC & Cumbrae Bank of Ideas
Description
North Coast & Cumbrae Locality Priorities were decided by the Locality Partnership and were based on information gathered about their own Locality. This included national data, local statistics and the views of local people through the people’s panel survey and by using the place standard tool to identify need.
North Coast & Cumbrae Locality Priorities are:
- Improving Access to Financial Services
- Increasing Social Inclusion
- Improving Mental Wellbeing
- Supporting Skills & Work Opportunities
Metta Wellbeing CIC set up the Island Wellbeing Hub in Millport with a small grant from CMHWB fund last year . This enabled us to train local people to volunteer to offer free 15 minute massages, and run a series of online and in person workshops all geared to stress management and better mental health . Acitivities included DIY massage, massage for safe home use, intro to aromatherapy, relaxation techniques, meditation, adapted Tai Chi, chair yoga and lots more. Funding;s coming to an end (( a sound bath for 30 people will be one of the last funded activities ) but we've developed a useful programme that works well and that could be replicated across the locality, as well as being developed locally to meet the unique needs of communities ( We identified a need for home visits for therapies for those who are housebound or unable for whatever reason to come to our therapy room , and for further regulated vocational training in therapies that could enhance employability
