The proposed changes are positive with the increased opening hours. The library is a vital hub for our community providing a welcoming and nurturing atmosphere for all. Weekend hours are better for those who work and opening on a Wednesday is also an improvement. Saltcoats library is accessible, ideally placed for public transport so perfect for the various groups and individuals who use it.
I like the proposed changes and am pleasantly surprised by them. I am often out that way on Wednesdays so it would be good to have the place open again. Saltcoats is a great library, lovely staff, lots of activities and groups and is so centrally placed and handy for public transport. I know people who go there to work or even just to sit and read or do a jigsaw but with company/people around them rather than just being in the house.
Accessing library at a time/day that suits. I may become more socially isolated. Groups I attend may be changed to a day/time I can no longer attend. This may affect my mental health and sense of belonging and connection to others.
I am happy with the proposed changes and the reinstatement of Saltcoats Library as the locality hub within the 3 towns . This is particularly pleasing given the commitment given at the budget setting committee in February 2025 not to proceed with the then proposal to close the facility but rather carry out a full review of service provision
