I want to also mention at this juncture about the lovely warm welcome we all receive from the library staff throughout our sessions. Lovely cold water is provided, or tea/coffee if we require so, nothing is ever too much trouble for the staff to assist me or any of my group with. I would go so far to say that it is indeed a joy each time I walk through the door to enter the library. The book displays are very well arranged and the projects & pictures the little children have completed throughout the year with different themes to encourage them & to teach the various subjects. (all learning opportunities for every age group). I do hope you will consider all of the above before reducing the hours of Kilwinning Library being open.
I have always enjoyed visiting the library as a child, teenager, student nurse & midwife plus as a Health Visitor. I strongly encouraged my mums in the community I served to join the library with their family. Thanking you in anticipation.
Well, if the library is closed we would not be able to run our class. If the day changed it would perhaps confuse the older members of our class. As they are organised & have their week planned. Most people do enjoy a routine in their week $look forward to the mid-week class. The library is also well situated (next to an elderly living complex just a "stone's throw" away from their abodery (ideal to say the least!)
I use the library often for book exchange exercise classes and quiet time. I've got used to the kind , helpful staff with all their recommendations and information that they give. I would sorely miss the convenience of the library and staff.
Reduction in choice to visit other libraries and borrow or have access through inter library loans. I am equally concerned about the staff impact and the potential future for them and those following. Staffing levels have to be maintained and continuity is very important to many who use the libraries.
The proposed changes to Kilwinning library hours would have no impact for me. I am retired and can get to the library easily most days. I think it is good that the library will be open longer on Saturday mornings which will be helpful to many people. I have just learned that although Kilwinning hours are hardly changing, staff numbers will be cut and staff on temporary contracts will be dismissed, That is not going to be a good thing for the future of this library and others in North Ayrshire. I realise that savings have to be made, but surely libraries should be a priority.
The proposed times can make it difficult for people to participate. It excludes working people.

Used to seeing staff - ladies losing jobs. Others having to apply to keep their jobs.
