Libraries are now an essential service in the community as so many local community services have stopped. The library provides a place for groups to be run and communities to come together in person when so much is offered remotely now. The library is the first place I visit when I move to a new area, to find out what is on and meet people locally. It is also important to have hard copies of resources and books as those with dyslexia often find it challenging to read a screen, even with tints.
I don't think it is acceptable to travel to another library: in areas with less public transport not everyone has a car; indeed those with less money to buy books or have a computer or have internet due to cost rely on the libraries for everyday access to services like banks, shopping, and job applications; including things like printing and attending groups available for free. This demographic are less likely to have a car...
