Rather than salami slicing library hours, the service should monetise some of the activities on offer. Most users would not object to a modest charge to cover the cost of materials used.
The whole concept of taking away a physical book having it stamped etc is outdated. Let’s have a decent online offering such as Libby. Staff would freed up to concentrate on more productive activities
While the cut of 1 hour is small, taken together with earlier opening hour reductions and the drop off in new stock, this is death by a thousand cuts.

I use the Mobile Library often as I live on the other side of the island and can't always get to Brodick
I like to use other facilities the Library provides such as exhibitions
The library has introduced me to other authors that I would otherwise not have discovered
I was surprised that only one hour was being cut after reading the intro! I was expecting much worse. That hour wouldn’t affect me at all, as I mainly attend with my child during the daytime.
The hour you are considering cutting is the hour when I would most likely visit, due to work/childcare commitments. I attend on a Thursday evening after I have finished work and am on my way to collect my child from an after school club.
It would have a great impact.
The library van comes once a fortnight on a Monday so this will cease.
