Island Arts Co-ordination - Adrenalism Theatre Company
Investment project code: 490
Estimated Price
£400
Summary
I am applying for funds to enable Adrenalism Theatre Company to return to Millport with their live street theatre performances. With the ongoing delays to the Millport Town Hall we thought the return of Adrenalism to Millport would be a great tonic and way to offer live theatre and performance to everyone in the town, locals and visitors alike. Their work is engaging and highly accessible for all ages. It is something that is suitable for all ages, visitors and locals alike. I am also aware this kind of ongoing engagement with national companies is going to be vital to Millport and particularly the new town hall venture. This is a way to build that programming and encourage a wider offer.
he request is for half the money required to bring Adrenalism Theatre Company to Cumbrae to perform The Party Shrimp.
The Party Shrimp is an ancient, magical and slightly ridiculous military admiral from another world (or perhaps the seabed) who arrives in ours in order to sense out the very best place for a party. Together with their enthusiastic but inexperienced apprentice they move through our world, infusing our spaces with that special something that makes a great party.
Non-verbal, highly visual, gentle and surreal. You are invited to watch, to sense, to wonder, to copy and play, up close and from afar on a journey of spontaneous celebration: https://www.adrenalism.com/projects/shrimp
The Party Shrimp is a walkabout, two hander that is perfect for event openings, food festivals or to go alongside larger events. I've attached a video here; The Party Shrimp at Imaginate Family Encounters at The National Museum: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8fwlwroqyw
The PB element would cover half the costs for the company to come to Millport. The remaining half would be met via the Island Arts Co-ordinator.
This would enable three performances throughout a day in the summer for all islanders and visitors alike.
The Party Shrimp Pricing: 1 Day of shows (2 -3 shows of 30 -40 minutes)
The additional Transport & sustenance would be raised by fundraising by the Parent Council and young people of the Cumbrae Primary School potentially supported by the Cumbrae Drama Club.
Description
Live street theatre performances of the Party Shrimp, the costs are reasonable for 2-3 shows in one day. Ideally we would like to also have the Chickens, their costs are more for a similar number of shows in one day. We will look at other ways to possibly enable both shows but we thought the PB was a good sue of funds to bring high level participatory theatre and arts to the island. We realsie this is a competitive funding stream with many worthy applicants. But we feel the Adrenalism offer is as worthy as any other as well as being accessible and fun.

I also try and engage those whom might not think the arts are for them, so audience participation and engagement is important. We work across all genres and are willing to work with everyone, particularly younger people and island based creatives.
Proposed on behalf of: Millport Primary School and Drama Club, this is something that is open and accessible for all Millport folks as well as visitors!
