Summary

The Youth Forum is established to promote the voice of young people in the North Coast, educating and assisting young people, helping develop their physical, mental and social capacities, to become effective citizens.


Description

With the 2 forums in the North Coast coming together. We are looking to attend a residential for much needed team building activities. This will benefit both Forums, through outdoor learning they will learn how to work together effectively. This will benefit the committe working together on future projects and also benefit their peers in the North Coast.

In the evening at the residential, the forums will participate and complete the second phase of mental health resilience training. This will allow the forum to become BU Mental Health Ambassadors and peer mentors. 

With the qualification gained, we will be able to run informative workshops and awareness sessions centred around mental health to young people in, West Kilbride, Fairlie, Largs, Skelmorlie, the Isle of Cumbrae.

Costs-

Residential accomodation- 10 x £118 + 3 x £58 = £1354

Ferry - 13 x £8.40 = £109.20

Total = £1463.20


Location: The members of the Forum are all young people aged between 12-24 and all live in the North Coast. The Forum run many projects which reflect issues that young people face on a daily basis. This includes mental health, climate change and the cost of living crisis. With the forums coming together, we will also be running projects relating to the LGBT community in the North Coast. We will be facilitating programmes aimed at alleviating harmful stereotypes and mental health issues LGBT young people face. The youth Forum also has representation at joint youth forums, equality forums, community council meetings and locality planning partnership meeting. here, they deliver presentations, network and have a lot of requests to run projects with other local organisations.
