BABCA would like to organise a Country and western Social evening to try and get older people and adults back into the way of attending social events in Towerlands Community Centre.We would like to organise a free evening event to encourage people to socialise. People have got in to the way of staying in their houses during covid we would like to invite people in the local area to an evening of Country music with a live band. We woud like to turn the centre into the wild west providing an evening of live music with a theme. This community event would bring people together and help people who have been social isolated meet new friends.

Creative Recycling - Christmas Project

Who are we? Two local Girls from Stevenston in North Ayrshire who share a passion for recycling reclaimed items such as textiles and small household furnishings. We have set up this non-profit Social Enterprise to share our work with others. What do we do? We create items such as bags, pouffes’, quilts and much more using reclaimed clothes, bedding and scrap materials that are reusable. Why do we do it? We want to share our passion for what we do with people across our communities to share the fun learning and open up new ideas to people who may have never considered using a sewing machine or recycling reclaimed items. The benefits Learning new skills, being creative is relaxing and rewarding its helpful to the environment and its great fun!

After the covid crisis and during the current cost of living crisis, voluntary groups in Scotland have found it difficult to engage with young volunteers, This could be because young people want a paid position to they can take care of their own expenses and releave the pressure on parents, or simply do not know what it is that's required. We at Ayrshire Communities Education and Sport and Woodwynd community association and many other groups, and clubs have  struggled in the past trying to engage with young volunteers many asked for part time work however to employ workers is both difficult due to funding and also brings in so many other issues. We feel that by showing what's required and having the time to do so would benefit young people, and groups, especially like ACES and woodwynd community Association. the priciple idea would be to train young volunteers at a speed where they are comfortable then when they have confidence in the training and guided by a qualified member of ACES they can begin to volunteer.

A group of volunteers took over the care of flower beds, signage, upkeep of paths, upgrading of fencing, the creation of fairy paths, bug hotel at Douglas Park in Largs.In May 2020 no flowers or plants were visible in the park. Within a few weeks all previous flowerbeds were opened and new bulbs, plants installed. An 'adopt a flower bed scheme' was launched and individuals, local businesses, local groups like the Foccrs, Largs Youth Theatre, Largs Flower Club and the Nazarene Church had adopted and taken over the care of the beds along with the support of  a group of committee members and friends. The gardens at Douglas Park have been transformed and paving work upgraded, the firechip to all the paths was renewed and painting of fencing, benches and metal surrounds also took place. However we need to continue our upgrading and maintenance to ensure the park continues to bloom.

We are looking for funding to Promote & Grow the Mens Shed in support of the Community. The Trustees are Hosting the Largs Boys Brigade along with their Leaders to introduce the Lads to Woodworking & a workshop environment, to allow them to pick up skils that they will hopefully use in the future. We are also planning to have talks with the newly formed Womens Institute in Largs, as we've had numerous women approach us about to the possability of setting Sessions for women.
