Irvine and Dreghorn Brass - help us get digital and buy some instruments!

Musical instruments - £630. Scanner / printer - £370 Total - £1000
Project supports health and well-being
Irvine and Dreghorn Brass has been in existence for c. 45 years and is a registered charity. We have 3 brass bands in our organisation and we provide opportunities for community members to learn music, play in a group and be entertained by music which has major health and well-being benefits for participants and audiences alike.
We perform at over 30 concerts and gala days each year and are seen by thousands of people. We also provide free music lessons and access to brass and percussion instruments for young people and adults.
Part of the funding would be spent on instruments that enable more people to play. While we will require to spend more than £630 on buying new / nearly new instruments, we will look to fund this additioal spend via other sources.
We would also like to buy a good quality printer / scanner. We often need to copy sheet music for our musicians to play and practice. Also we have a large library of sheet music, around 900 arrangements collected over our 40+ year existence, that we would like to digitise (scan). Parts of the sheet music often get lost or damaged and creating on-line copies would protect the music and enable us to print parts as required for our band rehearsals and classes.
Demand for our services is growing and our membership has grown 50% in the last year. Many people want to play in bands and community groups have us play at events.
Whiting Bay Primary Parent Council Sensory Garden
2023-09-08 • No comments • • Arran
A 'Wendy House' style shed for equipment to be stored safely in a child friendly and all weather setting. Cost £500
Raised and flat planters for herbs, flowers, fruit and vegetables. Cost £250
Seeds and young plants to be planted seasonally. Cost £150
Tactile and Sound items such as cedar shillings, lava stones and wind chimes. Cost £100
• The tubs across from the school are already tended by the Primary school year round. We have a janitor who is employed all year and she does this and would take charge of the sensory garden during the holidays.
• The Primary school has a very close relationship with the community. We have had daffodil tea afternoons and Christmas Coffee afternoons which are open to the village residents. We use the local church for school services and we would look into a collaboration with the Warm Rooms. Due to school risk assessments and council restrictions for people who are not part of the school community, it would not be feasible to have them come to the garden. However having spoken to a member of the church and Warm Room volunteer they feel it would be of benefit to them to have flowers, drawings and a presentation when the work is completed.
• Whiting Bay benefits from a Community Land Initiative and we would be working in conjunction with them to source sustainable and local plants
Hayocks Tenants and Residents Association (HTARA) - Community Skip Project

We live in an area of deprevation, this means that council up lifts or skip hire is costly for some people to prevent these costs reidents are fly tipping. There is alot of fly tipping in our area and we are greatful to the local volunteers who who take time to try and do the their best to make our community a place to be proud of as well as making it it safer for our wildlife, animals and kids to run around. Some of the items fly tipped are to big for the volunteers to lift, so have to leave it until these are picked up by Streetscene workers.
We are applying for money to cover the cost of two skips, so local resident can come and use it rather than fly tip it. There will be no cost for people to come along and dispose of their rubbish, hopefully this will reduce the fly tipping, making our commmunity a better place. We will pilot this over 2 months to see if it reduces the fly tipping and then maybe look at doing it a few times a year.
Skips x 2 £816
Permits x 2 130

West Kilbride Yuletide
2023-09-14 • No comments • • Official position 1 • North Coast
West Kilbride Yuletide provide a range of activities for all ages and generations. Activities include: Parade, Santa's Grotto, Arts & Crafts, Market Stalls, Pipe Band, Brass Band, Mobile Cinema, Critters, Choirs, Face Painting, Marshmallow Toasting, Mobile Youth Centre and many more.
To enable this to happen, certain legal procedures have to be put in place ie Road Closures for the Parade, Market Opertors Licence for the Market Stalls, Public Entertainment Licence for the Live Music. Without these in place, the activities will not be able to take place which would dilute the effect of the Festival and will not create the same level of Community Spirit.
It is vital funding is available to put these procedures in place as the success of the Yuletide event would be in jeopardy otherwise.
The cost for the Road Closures is £354; Market Operators Licence (3yrs) is £405; Public Entertainment Licence is £384 Total Cost: £1143
