Project Summary

Each year, a number of activities are held during the Yuletide event for children and young people in the Village. This year, we are introducing extra activities outwith the Yuletide event. Next year, we intend to try and widen the experiences for children and young people as well as make more opportunities available to them.

Project Description

Christmas movie night (hire of mobile cinema and movie, performance licence, hire of venue, refreshments) - £350

Storytelling Session in WK Library (purchase of Mrs Claus costume, purchase of selection boxes, refreshments) - £150

Arts & Crafts Materials - £100

How have young people been involved in shaping this project?

During Yuletide and throughout the year at various Fun Days, Information Days etc, we consult with young people on what activities they would like to see in their local community at Yuletide and throughout the year. Mostly respond by saying a Fun Fair but Yuletide is more about bringing in footfall for all the local businesses and providing free activities for families. The activities we are proposing will all be free therefore families will find it more accessible and cost efficient. All activities in the past have been well received but we feel there are gaps in the provision, therefore we are proposing to offer more family based opportunities in the future.

Location: The Village of West Kilbride is known locally as the Craft Town as it houses various Craft Shops in the Barony Centre and the Main Street. Yuletide encourages people from all over the visit the Village and purchase goods from the local Businesses.
