Project Summary
After completing our Easter and Summer cricket camps we have noticed an increased appetite from girls to get involved with the sport and we as a club are looking to support and start up a Girls Only cricket section within our club. More and more clubs are starting girls only cricket teams and we would like Irvine Cricket team to have its very own Girls team within 3 years allowing them to play against other girls cricket teams in a league offering girls a pathway into our sport.Project Description
We are looking to do coaching in 8 primary and secondary schools over the winter months. We are kooking to spend 7 hours per school and get involved with 7 of them. This will involve lunch time or after school sessions, school visits to talk about the sport, do live sessions with them to try and obtain at least 5 girls per school would be our targets. This would involve an introduction to cricket, showing them the 3 parts to the game, batting, fielding, bowling breaking these down to allow the girls to pick up at least one of these skills and get their interest up. There will be drills, games and 1: 1 coaching to assist in this project. The costs to run these sessions will be £18.50 an hour for the 49 hours. This will include a mileage allowance, all equipment.
