Project Summary

Our cadets have worked extremely hard this year and we are looking to take them for a fun day out in Blackpool to celebrate. Our project is for us to travel to Blackpool and have a day at the pleasure beach, a meal then travel back home.

20 cadet x £35 = £700

5 volunteer staff x £35 = £175

Fuel Cost approx £150 - we have our on mini bus for travelling

25 x £10 per head for meal =£250

How have young people been involved in shaping this project?

Our cadets and volunteer staff have been amazing this year. The work they have put in for the unit and themselves has been incredible. Our juniors have now moved up to senior cadets through their hard work, patience and determination in achieving targets that had been set to progress with their time in the cadets. One of our cadets Sam has became the first cadet to become a Cadet Sergeant in the unit after completing his gruelling at selection board in Leek training camp in Staffordshire. We have been helping out at the Scottish Martine Museum through the year at their Market days - these have been great days out for the cadets as we enjoy being part of the community. Our tasks involved, directing visitors around the museum, assisting stall holders with setting up and taking away stalls, keeping the museum clean and tidy and welcoming and saying goodbye to visitors. We have managed to raise some vital funds for our unit doing this by selling raffle tickets for hampers and playing guess the teddy bears name. Our cadets have raised over £500 throughout the year doing this. Each cadet has achieve different levels in paddling boarding, sailing, rowing and kayak. They have also achieve qualification in advance first aid, drill training, and piping training which are all important roles within our unit. We have our 2 year inspection (RMP) which we passed with flying colours back in 2023 and are hoping to do the same in October 2025. Our cadets voted on different events for celebrations and Blackpool was the favourite.

Location: This project affects our Irvine Sea Cadets. They work extermely hard throughout the year achieving things most people never do in their life. The unit is a family and we all work together. After our boating season is finished we enjoy a day our together relaxing and enjoying ourselves as a unit and reflect on our achievements within the last 12 months. As a unit we struggle financiallydue to most families being on low incomes or unemployed, this will give them a day out where parents dont have to worry about paying.
