Project Summary

We are a community youth football team, who pride themselves on working hard to give children the opportunity to participate in football and be part of a team. The team has been established for 7 years. Our volunteer coaches have worked with the children since they were 4 years old. The team train at Kilwinning sports club twice a week and are currently playing in the top tier of the Ayrshire youth football league at 9 a side.

Project Description

We want to ensure as many children stay in sport and football as long as possible and have the best facilities and equipment available to ensure the team keeps growing. The coaches will continue to work with and support kids in the local community to enjoy sport and be the best they can whilst learning key values like teamwork and respect.

The team is looking to raise funds to help fund the following;

* New balls/training equipment so there are enough balls the correct size for each player when doing drills in training and different equipment to aid in different training exercises and warm up drills - £10 per ball x 15 = £150 Cones and bibs - £40  total £190

* Football festival in a different area- £120 per team

* Training packs for each player so everyone has the same kit to wear for training. Approx £61 per pack = 15 x £61 = £915

How have young people been involved in shaping this project?

Young people are the whole reason our team exists and continues to move forward. Their wellbeing and progress helps shape our project as we want to continue to be a successful football team with boys that are thriving in life. The coaches regularly speak to the boys and listen to their feedback. Any funding is used solely to benefit the young people. The boys have confirmed what their aims and goals are both individually and as a team and have worked with the fundraising team to complete this application and decide on the items that they feel would benefit the team most if our application were to be successful. The volunteer coaches and committee work hard each week to set the team up for success. They speak with the team each week and answer any questions or queries the boys have to ensure they get the most out of every training session and the boys are all happy and feel included/heard. A successful application would support the team to reach their goals and help the coaches improve the experience and level of training that is taking place currently. The funding would also support the young peoples families by lightening the financial burden and allowing all players to have their own training packs so everyone is wearing the same, be protected from the cold/wet weather and feel part of the team.
