Project Summary
Millport Curling Club is working with Cumbrae Primary School to give young people on the island a chance to try curling at GreenacresProject Description
Young people on Cumbrae have urged Millport Curling Club to help give them the chance to try curling through test sessions at a mainland ice rink. It’s difficult for young islanders to participate in the sport as they need to travel off the island and it's expensive. Millport Curling club members and Cumbrae Primary School teachers will host the session with professional coaches at Greenacres ice rink. We're applying for funding for the bus, ferry and coaching for a group of thirteen 10-12 year-olds (P6&7) to have a go and be inspired to take up curling. The project will improve health and well-being by being active, trying something different and playing together in teams. The funding will mean everyone who wants to take part can do so, even families who are affected by the Cost of Living crisis.
The cost breakdown is:
Bus: £350
Ferry: £50
Venue fees (Ice/coaching): £250
Total: £650
