The weekly bingo sessions in Redburn Community Hub help to build community spirit and improve the health and wellbeing of local community members.  The sessions are inclusive and welcoming and are regularly attended by a large number of people from the local community. The bingo sessions provide a safe and friendly social space for people to have fun and meet new people.

We are seeking PB funding to enable us to purchase items that will enhance the experience of community members taking part in the weekly bingo sessions.  We want to buy a new bingo machine that is more efficient and has a large digital display to help make the bingo numbers called accessible to all participants.  We also want to buy bingo dabber pens and bingo books to enable up to 100 community members to take part in the weekly bingo sessions.  We also require an electrical extension for the bingo machine.  In addition, we are seeking funding to purchase vouchers to enable us to provide a wide variety of quality bingo prizes for the weekly sessions.

If successful, the CWB funding would allow us to bring in a consultant to strengthen our branding and marketing. As a charity, we have grown significantly in both our size and the support we provide, and we want to make sure we can fully showcase the breadth of our work in ways that are clear, accessible, and inclusive, ensuring no one is left out.

As a not-for-profit organisation, every penny we earn/raise goes straight back into the charity, the communities, and the people we support. Our charity is a a social care chairty and the teams go above and beyond every day to meet increasing demand. At present, they create resources using the tools available to them, but this takes up valuable time. With this funding, we would be able to produce professional, accessible materials that reach a much wider audience, easing pressure on our teams while ensuring our information and support are inclusive for all.

Friends of Trindlemoss

Trindlemoss Day Opportunities is based in Irvine the people with learning disabilities, physical impairments and sensory  who attend come from all over North Ayrshire. Trindlemoss aims to transform community attitudes to better support and promote opportunities for people with learning disabilities. We help people with learning disabilities share their strengths and skills with the community and encourage recognition for their input.

Throughout our work , we stay focused on our service users, and the relationships that we build with them the supports we offer them and enrich them at Trindlemoss we try to support encourage each individual to reach their full potential.

After receiving PB funding last year Friends of Trindlemoss has organised social events at night which have been well attended by over sixty peopl and the building has been used at night.

Parents, carers, and support workers from other organisations  have attended and the people with learning disabilities have had the opportunity to meet up with their friends and socialise at night some of the people attending have not seen each other since school.

We have also had social evenings fortnightly to bring carers and support staff together. At the monthly social events parents have met other parents and this has also helped new parents with the transitions from school to day opportunities. Parents have also been given the opportunity to meet up with other parents they have not seen from Lockheart school.

Trindle moss Court and Trindlemoss House also have residents that have benefited from the social events has it has also given them the opportunity to meet their neighbours.

The criteria we meet is health and wellbeing as Friends of Trindlemoss promote physical and mental wellbeing the project tackles social isolation and it brings the Trindlemoss Community together as well as bringing the wider community into Day opportunities. The people who reside in the tenancies have mental health issues and learning disabilities so we also hit the criteria for building community spirits as we have had the social event in an environment that is familiar to everyone.

Friends of Trindlemoss would like to hold a big social event in Castlepark community centre, the group would like a bar and band and would like to open the event up to more people with learning disabilities who live in the community they also would like a buffet as at all our social events we always have a food.

This will be a challenge for some of our service users as we would like the event to run from 7pm to 11pm and it is trying a new environment but some people with learning disabilities know Castlepark community centre and attend clubs there already and volunteer at their lunch club, community garden , community cafe and the dementia cafe every week.

We are also working on a newletter to tell more people about our events and if all goes well we will publish this twice a year this in turn will be sent to the community learning disability team and other third party organisations that support people with learning disabilities in the community.

Ripple Effect Saltcoats -- Melbourne Park Revival

Ripple Effect Saltcoats intend to reinstate an 18 hole putting green complete with flags. We also will include 2 or 3 target bowls rinks with numbered target circles, a possible french boules area and a large fixed chess and draughts board. It is hoped to include a table tennis court as well. 

Ripple Effect Saltcoats see this project as another step in the regeneration of Saltcoats shorefront. It will also complement the proposed redevelopment of Melbourne Toilets.

Come See, Come Sew

Come See, Come Sew

We would like to establish a sewing group where people can learn skills for life and hobbies for well-being and fun. There would be no cost except to ask for a donation, if possible, for the food bank in Ardeer Community Centre.

Being part of such a group can encourage self reliance, reduce social isolation and be of benefit to all who participate.

In learning to sew and mend items of clothing, we can reduce waste and promote sustainability, in our community thereby avoiding waste.

In cold weather, we can provide a warm space. All equipment, including sewing machines, will be available for use at the classes, free of charge. Fabric and thread for projects will be provided as well as tea/coffee and biscuits.

Health & Well-being will be enhanced from social inter-action, learning new skills will build confidence and satisfaction will be achieved as we support the production of items for gifts and home use.  We will promote reducing waste by encouraging simple mending skills. 

By bringing people together to learn at Ardeer Community Centre, we hope to further promote the centre as a hub of  our community, encouraging all to engage in learning through fun.

Multicultural Workshop in North Ayrshire

The Ukrainian Community in North Ayrshire will deliver two intercultural workshops designed to strengthen community spirit, reduce social isolation, and celebrate cultural diversity. Ukrainian Pysanka Workshop (£600): Two invited masters will lead a traditional Ukrainian egg-decorating session for up to 40 participants. The workshop includes full sets of materials, demonstrations, hands-on practice, and opportunities for participants to learn about Ukrainian heritage. The session will also include refreshments and a chance to socialise. Joint Dumpling and Pelmeni Making Workshop (£400): A practical cooking event for around 40–50 participants. Community members will work together to prepare and share traditional Ukrainian dumplings, supported by facilitators. The activity will promote intercultural exchange, teamwork, and create a welcoming space where people can connect over food. Together, these workshops will provide creative and inclusive opportunities for local residents of all backgrounds, including New Scots from Hong Kong, Syria, Ukraine, and the wider community to come together, share traditions, and build meaningful connections. Total budget: £1000 Workshop “Ukrainian Pysanka”  £600 Invited masters with materials  £350 Two masters will be involved in the workshop. The amount includes: • provision of a complete set of materials for 40 participants (eggs, dyes, wax, styluses, candles, gloves, napkins); • travel costs from Glasgow and back; • preparation (1 hour), conducting the workshop (5 hours), and completion (1 hour for packing materials and tidying up); • decorative arrangements and photo/video recording of the event for reporting and promotion. Largs Community Winter Warmer - Film and Food Event

This project wish to build on previous 'Cinema events' hosted by the Largs Community Council, and create a fully inclusive event, where people can come together, enjoy a movie, chat, and have a meal, without having to worry about cost. We wish to engage as much of the community as possible and will publicise on social media, through the schools as well as care homes and other channels. The venue is fully accessible.

The format will be as follows:

  • Children and ASN movie - late afternoon showing. This will take place in the Valhalladrome and will comprise one or two shorter movies with subtitles. We will be advertising to ensure that parents know it's aimed at younger children, or those with ASN and as such, can come and go as required and also children, under  parent/carer supervision, will be welcome to 'be themselves' and enjoy the movie without worrying about requiring to keep seated and keep quiet. 
  • Simple meal in cafe area - utilising the newly refurbished, Cafe area, we wish to be able to offer people a simple meal to be enjoyed in the seating area. This will be free of charge and will have offering to suit all ages as well as when possible accomodating allergy requirements. 
  • This will still be a family friendly movie, albeit longer, and in the Barrfield Theatre - our intention is to offer a 'current' movie release which will allow people to enjoy a genuine movie experience without having to travel further afield. 
  • We hope to be able to engage a local band to play during the meal time in the lobby of Vikingar! to add to the ambience, but also show case their talents to the wider community.

Final costings are to be confirmed however expected to be as follows:

Cinema screenings - 2 movie showings on one afternoon - c£250. This will be confirmed nearer the time as there is variability depending on movie choices and specific license costs. We will engage with our community to identify the films that are top of people's list to see nearer the time.

Hall Hire - expected around £250 to book both venues for the required period. 

Food - £500 - Vikingar staff will operate the cafe and provide a simple menu which is based on that current at The Portal. We expect this will fund up to 100 meals (Soup+Sandwich or Main and side), however LCC have also some funding available for previous cinema events which will allow us a buffer if demand outstrips the funding allocation.

Community/Memorial Garden

We wish to build a community/memorial garden in a vacant area of land within the community recreation ground. The garden will include a memorial wall and will be a profound way to acknowledge and honour the life of a loved one, a historical event, or a significant achievement. These plaques will also play a crucial role in preserving history and act as a bridge between the past and the present, providing a tangible link to our heritage. By commemorating individuals or events, they help us understand our local roots and the journey taken.

The garden will also serve as a space for personal reflection and for educating the public about the person or event being commemorated whilst being a general meeting place for community members.  Our community Partners Ardrossan Community Sports Hub will add a page to their website and we will direct people to it, the page will include a bio for every plaque on the wall. The design/planning and building of the garden will involve both the Local Communtiy Shed, AWR Extra Time Crew, AWR CIC, and Ardrossan Communtiy Sports Hub. We will also partner with The Three Town Growers who will provide asisstance with planting.

We will charge an additional amount to cost of plaque and that will be used to maintain and improve the garden. It will also improve joint working as the Community Shed and AWR/ACSH Extra Time Crew will maintian the garden/

Improving Kilmory Hall for All

Our project is to provide a welcoming space for local children and families to enjoy throughout the year but particulary during the bleaker winter months when isolation is a problem in rural areas. The current pool table has been damaged by the old pool cues. The wall surrounding the dart board does not have any protection and has many small dart sized holes in it. We hope to recloth our pool table, purchase new pool cues and other necessary items for playing pool and keeping the area tidy. Purchase a Bluetooth speaker to enjoy their own music in each hall, new darts for our dart baord and all the necessary items required for this. For our larger hall, the equipment to enjoy pickle ball and badminton. The halls are used by various groups for different activities, it would be nice to tidy up the spaces for all that use them, while our pool table and dart board can remain out looking neat and tidy while our knitting group or coffee morning team are using the space they are not sitting with damaged walls and pool cues lying out, we are limited for space to keep the place tidy for all.

Lok Oi Hong Kong Lunch Club

We are Lok Oi, a Hong Kong Cantonese community group – our name means bliss or happiness in English. Our project will bring elderly Cantonese speakers and the wider community together through shared lunches. These events will reduce social isolation, give people a chance to meet new friends, and celebrate Cantonese and Chinese culture with others in North Ayrshire. Each session will include traditional food, music, and karaoke to encourage fun, relaxation, and participation. We aim to create welcoming spaces where cultures are shared, connections are built, and wellbeing is improved.
