Lights and Laughter

Beith Town Centre Initiative is seeking funding to install and operate festive lighting for our annual Christmas Light Switch-On. This much-loved community tradition brings together families, local businesses, and visitors to celebrate, strengthen community spirit, and support the town’s local economy. The Christmas Light Switch-On is more than just a seasonal event. It fosters pride and belonging, creating a sense of joy and togetherness during a time that can be challenging for many.

Kilbirnie and Glengarnock Age Concern has been active for over 50 years and aims to provide the elderly within our community with the opportunity to socialise and participate in activities that benefit their wellbeing and reduce social isolation. Since covid this has become even more important as many people have become more isolated and have a fear of going out. We meet weekly in Bridgend Community centre and aim to provide excursions twice a year.

The football ground is a focal point of local activity—used not just for matches, but, on occasion, for youth programmes and community gatherings. In deprived areas where access to health and leisure services is already limited, this can be a lifeline for many disabled residents. We aim to create accessible facilities would allow more residents to take part, helping to improve mental wellbeing, reduce loneliness, and create stronger community bonds.

Dalry action group are volunteers from Dalry who organised the towns annual event where families from the local community meet together to celebrate Christmas festivities where the towns Christmas lights get turned on. We try and raise funds ourselves to ensure most of the activities are free for families.

We offer Prizes, medals, cups, and trophies to the winners, as well as certificates to all participants. We sponsor a bus to take children and families to the Ayrshire finals
