Location: Ardrossan Indoor Bowling Club is situated in Glasgow Street, Ardrossan. Ardrossan is part of the Three Towns, which constitutes Ardrossan, Saltcoats and Stevenson. The Three Towns is an area of high deprivation. It suffers from high unemployment levels, high crime levels and a lack of facilities for people to gather to enjoy companionship and/or physical and mental stimulation. There are a high number of older people, living on their own. There are also a lack of facilities for people to enjoy sporting activities outwith mainstream football, rugby or athletics.
Proposed on behalf of: Ardrossan Indoor Bowling Club is open to any member of the Community, over 8 years old. As well as providing facilities for indoor bowling, whether this be for fun, exercise, connection or on a more competitive level. The premises are also used for functions, including funeral receptions, engagements, birthdays and baby showers. Additionally, the premises are used by the local branch of the Royal British Legion, the Three Towns Angling Section, the Ardrossan Castle Heritage Society and local Whist & Bridge Clubs. The Club will also, this year, be involved in assisting by providing facilities and refreshments for the Ardrossan Christmas Lights Switch On.
