Group of secondary age pupils who are expeirenced who come together monthly to discuss the things in care that affect them.  The time is also used to build friendships and develop new skill s like team building, event planning and much more. We are looking to use the funds to enable us to become a more established group and to buy resources that we can use to make stuff that help us stand out such as tshirts, badges ect.   Our main aim is to buy resources such as arts equipment and distraction tools that we can create a calming box for other care experienced young people in our locality/school that we can give out which also can include information on our group to let them know we are here for them but we would also include print out's that may be helpful to them in their care journey.

£200 - merch

£800 - Resources for box

Football trips and camps - we would love to give our parents and young players the opportunity to experience football trips and camps out with our local community. The money will be used to ensure that all young people are able to take part and no one will be left behind. This will take the burden often felt by parents and allow young people to have the same experiences regardless of their parents financial income. We are looking to enter the team into several tournaments where they will compete against higher opposition which in turn will help them develop and become better players.

Tournament fees £200 (per tournament)

Bus hire: £200

Estimated total: £600

Equipment - We are also keen to provide our young players with top of the range training equipment such as: footballs, cones, goals, hurdles and bibs. The current resources we have are dated and well used which does our team a disservice. By upgrading our equipment we feel it gives our team a better chance to improve and better their skills.

Estimated total: £200

Football Strips - We have recently recruited some new players as we transition from 9's to 11 aside which leaves us short of kit for all the new recruits. We would like to purchase new kit packs for our players so they feel like a full member of our team.

Estimated cost: £200

Kilwinning Rangers FC Youth Football Group

2024-09-12  •  No comments  •  skelpy999  •  Kilwinning

Whilst we hope to develop a lot of our young players to one day play for Kilwinning Rangers FC or other senior professional or semi-professional teams, we are just as single-minded in our vision to having as many young players continue in sport and activity, whether that be football, running, tennis or other activities on offer at our club.

We believe our project will promote aspiration and education in our area, North Ayrshire; a known disadvantaged area, encapsulating:

Health and Wellbeing

Poverty and Inequality.

Voice and Participation.

Our application for £1000 will be used to ensure we have proper and secure storage facilities for the kit and equipment of our 17 teams, to properly maintain our boot/ kit exchange and to ensure all teams have an equal opportunity to continue playing organised sport with the correct equipment.

We would hope to start our project as soon as practicable and promote the exchange through our many social media accounts and though the local press.

What difference will the project make and who will benefit?

With experience of running and managing youth football teams for over 16 years, we appreciate it is a costly business. The provision of a large and organised storage area, well stocked and maintained will essentially provide individuals and groups/ teams in our community who are perhaps less fortunate than others with the means to provide football equipment and sports kit for their children. This is particularly relevant for newly formed teams who may be less reliant and perhaps not as fortunate to have generous sponsors or fundraisers in place to assist with the running costs of youth football teams.

We have included our Youth Football Section Forum in researching and writing this application. One of our former Youth Football Section Forum members has also travelled to a secondary school in Osika, Kenya twice in the last two years, donating a large number of KSC Kilwinning Rangers Youth Football kits and tracksuits to the pupils there.

Dance Depot Lyrical Sqaud

Dance Depot Lyrical Squad - DDLS

2024-09-10  •  No comments  •  Caroline  •  Kilwinning

The Dance Depot Lyrical Squad is part of Tracy Finlay’s Dance Depot, a welcoming and inclusive dance school in Kilwinning that provides local children aged 5-18 the chance to explore dance in a fun, friendly, and affordable environment. The school’s focus is on making dance accessible to everyone, and the competition team offers an opportunity for those who want to take their dancing further to experience the excitement and discipline of performing at a competitive level.

Although the Dance Depot is primarily a recreational school, the DDLS competition team competes in national competitions, with over 35 local dancers proudly representing Ayrshire and Scotland. One of the key events is the Blackpool Winter Gardens competition in March 2025, where the dancers showcase the results of their dedication and hard work from the season. This experience is a highlight for the dancers, allowing them to perform on a prestigious stage and enjoy the thrill of competition.

However, participating in these competitions involves significant costs, including entry fees, costumes, and travel. The Dance Depot is committed to keeping these opportunities accessible for all its dancers, regardless of financial background, by covering costs like the £80 entry fee per dancer for Blackpool through fundraising and community support.

The Youth PB grant would go directly towards these entry fees, ensuring that no dancer misses out due to financial constraints. The aim is to keep the competitive experience open to everyone, allowing all dancers in our community to build confidence, develop teamwork, and gain valuable life skills through dance.

By supporting The Dance Depot Lyrical Squad, the Youth PB grant will massively contribute to help make these experiences possible, empowering young people to grow and thrive in a supportive environment. The Dance Depot’s commitment to accessibility and inclusivity ensures that every dancer has the chance to shine, build lifelong memories, and enrich their community through the joy of dance.

Ancient Society of Kilwinning Archers

We are looking for help with funding to purchase new beginners equipment and targets to allow us to continue to provide beginners courses for anyone over the age of 9 years old. Our beginner's course is a 6 week program to introduce people to the sport of archery. Archery is one of the most inclusive and accessible sports for people of all ages and abilities.

Any funding we are allocated would be used for new beginners equipment and targets to replace worn and outdated equipment.

A full beginners set up costs around £300 and a single target can cost up to £360. We as a club have just invested in 6 full kits. We are looking to purchase 3 new targets to replace worn out ones that are over ten years old. With any extra funding going to purchase extra limbs for the new beginners bows to allow us to tailor them more to each individual archer.  Any funding would be a great help in affording us the ability to bring our sport to a greater number of the local community.

Archery has many proven benefits for health and wellbeing, some of which are:

Physical exercise: Archery can burn calories and tone muscles in your arms, back, chest, hands, and rotator cuffs.

Mental health: Archery  is proven to provide a meditative state of mind which can help you relax, decrease stress, and improve your mood. It can also help you focus on the present moment and ignore distractions.

Social benefits: Archery can be a social sport where you can make friends with like-minded people.

Self-confidence: Seeing yourself progress can help build your confidence. Coordination and balance: Archery requires focus and concentration.

Three of our current junior members have progressed from novice archers to competing at a club and local level and progressed even further to compete at a national level representing Scotland as under 21s. Two of those have also represented Scotland at senior level being selected for the national team at the Home Nations Championships.

We have provided 'come and try' sessions, at local schools, and our own archery range. Mainly in association with KA Leisure (North Ayrshire Council), but sometimes at the request of other organisations such as local Scout groups. We also provide archery sessions for Clan Hunter gatherings, at the Hunterston Estate.

Kilwinning Rangers 2014

2024-09-12  •  No comments  •  Kilwinning Rangers 2014  •  Kilwinning

Kilwinning Rangers 2014 are applying for funding of £1000 to help the team reach their target of buying new balls, cones and bibs, training pack for each player and to play in a youth festival in a different area.

A successful application would support the team to reach these goals and help the coaches improve the experience and level of training that is taking place currently. The funding would also support the families by lightening the financial burden and allowing all players to have their own training packs so everyone is wearing the same and feel part of the team.

The £1000 funding would be used to help the team secure the following:

  • New balls/training equipment so there are enough balls for each player when doing drills in training and different equipment to aid in different training exercises and warm up drills - £10 per ball x 35 = £350 - Cones and bibs - £40  total £390
  • Trip to football festival - We would love to give our players the opportunity to experience playing in different football festivals all over the country but due to funding this can be difficult as we have 30 players which make up 3 team playing 7 a side currently.  Estimated cost: 3 teams entered into festival £100 per team per festival = £300 total for one festival.
  • Training packs ( shorts, top, socks, ½ zip, rain jacket) for each player so everyone has the same kit to wear on Mondays and Thursday for training and means that the football kits would only be worn on match days. All players would also be ready for all weather playing. Estimated cost £61 per player x 35 = £2,135

We would be looking for the additional funds to meet our goals to be provided by the parents/guardians, hence how important this fund could be to the team and families during this cost of living crisis to ensure that all players have the same kit and nobody is left behind.

Pryde Youth Groups

We will run three youth groups based around 3 different demographics. p6/p7 youth group, as they move towards transitioning to secondary school. s1+ group, to create a safe space for young people to hang out, and learn new skills/knowledge while creating stronger links with their community and opportunities to volunteer. Youth group for young people around music, as space for young people who play or just want to meet like-minded music fans and would like to learn skills in the business/creative side of it. These would be development groups over 3 months with the plan to develop full groups going into 2025. The cost would cover the cost of a youth worker to work with young people throughout. £330 per group x 3 groups = £990
