WKEG maintain over 30 community gardens in West Kilbride. These include station planters and gardens, memorial garden, plus Catlinn, Old Mans Rest, Barony Centre, Cherry Orchard planters, library and Boyd Orr gardens. We also have 2 fields, a wood, wildflower meadow and community orchard. The group operate from Garratt Gardens where there are poly tunnels, ponds, fruit bushes and a wide range of habitats. All this is achieved entirely by a wonderful group of volunteers who meet once a week.

1. Annually, during January and February Irvine Burns Club invites local primary school Primary 6 pupils (450 in 2024) to Wellwood Burns Centre & Museum to learn about the life of Burns and the pivotal role Irvine played encouraging him to develop as a poet. 2. By entering a “Champion of Champion” event, Primary Schools demonstrate their pupils’ reading and speaking skills, boosting their self-confidence and fostering an appreciation of the Scots language.

Arran Friendship Café (AFC) aims to increase its reach and accessibility by delivering its café-style meetings for older people at an additional location, to better address social isolation, loneliness and build community on Arran.

Following the reduction in Streetscene's budget, there are a number of maintenance issues that need to be addressed by the community. This application will give us a budget to arrange these works in conjunction with other local groups.

This year as a local community centre we would like to offer families an opportunity to have breakfast with Santa free of charge to help in times of the cost of living crisis. We live in an area identified as being of multiple deprivation and some of the children and young people in our area have limited financial resources. We would love to build community spirit by offering a breakfast with Santa for free.

Setting up of solar-panel power source to charge communal equipment as currently members are taking rechargeable batteries home to charge
