Summary
Known as Gilmour's Path, the pedestrian lane which provided safe access to the Glen away from the vehicular access has fallen into disrepair and is now so boggy and overgrown as to be rendered unusable. The proposal is to clear the overgrown vegetation and to improve the path by laying Type 1 stone making the entrance safer for pedestrians. Friends of Kirkton Hall Glen has the support of the various sports groups using the Glen's facilities and West Kilbride Environmental Group in this proposal.Description
The proposal is for our volunteer groups to join in clearing the overgrown vegetation and to engage a contractor to prepare the existing unusable path and supply and lay an appropriate appropriate amount of Type 1 aggregate which will prevent further degradation of the surface. We have been quoted a cost of £900 for labour and materials for this work.
Location: Gilmour's Lane is a well-used entrance to the Glen. As well as pedestrians, vans and trucks, including NAC vehicles use this for access to the area. If the project involving improvements to the old blaes football pitch takes palce, heavy plant will be using this access route.
