Kilwinning has a lot of good things and a strong community, but I would like to see more investment in families, children and young people. In particular, there needs to be more accessible mental health and wellbeing support for children, more activities and safe spaces for teenagers, and better provision for children with additional support needs.
I would also like local people to be kept informed about what comes from consultations like this. If residents take the time to share their experiences and ideas, it would be good to see clear feedback afterwards about what was heard, what is going to be acted on and what changes are actually being made
The issue I feel is roadworks throughout Kilwinning and sometimes we dont know about it. It can hold the full of Kilwining getting through due to this, maybe advertising and showing where you can alternatively go through. More clubs for older children but again it is hard as children think stigma if they go to clubs at times.
Currently there are ongoing issues with congestion going through Kilwinning, evidently effecting businesses as far as Irvine. All too often they A78 has a RTC on it, creating disruption regularly. I understand these are tough issues to overcome or mitigate, but maybe there is an idea out there to help ease the pressure?
Plans to create safer ways through Kilwinning to Irvine cycle paths etc, to help reduce pressure on our road network. My daughter is 8 and is keen to transport via a bike in the future.
Education- I would love to see a small change to the current curriculum. 1- To encourage a varied choice of sport. Football is heavily encouraged and it's not every child's preference.
2- Land based studies teaching practical ways to be resilient using the knowledge to grow your own food/forage. Encourage kids to explore the outdoors, safe foraging etc. Willow weaving workshops for kids will help develop the skills to make baskets, fire building, den making to build confid
